Sand Setting feels like Remap??

I read somewhere about the special programs also remapping engine parameters, Confused tried on sand setting today and noticed total loss of turbo lag and very quick engine response, Very Happy the accelerator felt less sensitive, but if I stuck my foot down the D3 deffo felt quicker/sharper?

Am I talking total Censored Embarassed or is there something to this, anyone else found the same? Question

its not just me then! Smile

Do you reckon driving round in sand mode on a regular basis would damage anything?

Sand locks the centre diff according to my dealer, so it will give extra wear when cornering.

When he was giving me the walk through the vehicle he described the sand mode as drag race mode as it gave more torgue and faster shifts.

I find that in my v8 the headrest hits my head as the shifts can be quite violent - even on sand - so I don't over use it.

Cheers, Steve

Turbochip only re-map the engine for when the special programs are off. The TC does not affect the TR mappings which still retain their standard LR settings after a re-map 8)

From my understanding all reputable tuning companies, including myself JE and TC do not alter the 'off road' engine maps at all Smile

I went straight out and tried it when I read the post. Just saved me £700 on a re-map, so thanks! The difference in pickup is incredible!

Now you now why my Permagrin is wider than most Jon!!! Wink

Be very careful about using sand mode too often as it will kill your big expensive tyres on the corners. Shocked

Now, imagine the increased pick-up without having to twist the dial or ruin the tyres and centre diff. Perhaps £700 isn't so bad after all. Just consider it to be unseen bling and I'm sure you will justify it. Like an expensive watch hidden under a double-cuff Laughing

Now, imagine all that extra 'go' without the weight associated to the two rows of rear seats and all their gubbins......... That's my D3 van.... Mr. Green
