Samsung Galaxy Ace connectivity problems.....

I have just bought my first smart phone, a Samsumg Galaxy Ace. I checked with the LR site firstly to make sure it was compatible with the bluetooth on my 2012my Disco 4. It has paired ok with the car but the automatic connection with the car is hit and miss - sometimes the car will find the phone and connect ok, others it doesn't seem to be able to do so.

Has anyone else had this problem with this, or similar, phone? If so, is there a solution (apart from going back to my old Nokia which worked perfectly every time!!).

It's the GT-S5380i. It works great in my partners VW Scirocco - wish it was as good in my Disco!

i have a samsung galaxy ace and mine connects no problem every time i get in the car the only time it fails is if swmbo is with me then it always seems to connect to her flippin iphone rather than my samsung Censored

have you selected the auto connect on your phone when you paired it
bali blue disco 4 with rear dvd's, privacy glass, pre heat system, heated steering wheel, full size spare, piano black trim, ipod cable, 20 inch wheels and i love it loads more than my TDV8 RRS, KTM 250 EXC 2 Stroke for the real off road stuff

I dont recall the option of auto connect when I paired the phone and cannot seem to find anything to change. It connects automatically on some occasions and not others so I am at a loss to know what it could be!

I know this is a bit of an old post now, but I had a similar problem with my 2012MY D4 and a Samsung Galaxy Ace. Would sometimes connect and sometimes take ages to connect. Problem turned out to be car asking permission from phone to download address book, once I set this to 'always allow' the thing has connected reliably within seconds of getting in the car.

Hi Pete - I am still having the same problem in that the phone will sometimes connect immediately, then it can take several attempts, and often refuses to connect. You seem to have solved the problem. Can you explain where you set the permission to always allow the car to download the address book please? Hopefully, this will relieve my frustration with the car and prevent a trip to the dealers. Thanks in anticipation.

my phone is a Galaxy Ace S5830i. When I picked up the car from the dealer, dealer showed how to connect the phone from the vehicle screen and initially all seemed to pair OK. Set off to drive home and took about 2 miles before the phone connected. Problem continued and I thought possibly there was a compatibility problem, but fortunately not. Eventually in desperation I deleted the phone connection from the list (on the car) and reconnected, with the phone visible in my hand, entered the bluetooth code as requested (from car to phone) and then noted there was a blue dialogue appeared on the phone screen, asking to download the phonebook. An option on the dialogue allowed, to 'always allow' or something similar, so ticked that and process complete. Ever since the phone has happily connected within seconds every time and all seems to work. Previously when I got in the car, the phone would jingle but fail to connect, probably shouting for help but I was unaware of what it was askin for. Hope this helps. Pete

Thank you Pete - mine is an S5830i too. I have followed your instructions and it all seems to be working fine! Thanks so much again, I have been getting to the point of reverting to my old Nokia but it looks like it wont be necessary now.

Glad it helped, I have benefited a lot from this site, so nice to be able to advise somebody else.
