I'm there on Sunday aswell. I've fitted some underbody protection that I was able to get at a good price but found out today that my passenger and the AT tyres he was bringing can't make it. How much of a struggle do you think it would be doing it on Scorpion Zeros?
I wouldn't like to give a definitive statement, but...
...the first time I went round (in a D2) was on some road tyres (and that was also the muddiest time) and I didn't get stuck. Tom put me behind him in the convoy so that if I did get stuck it would be straightforward to get a tow-rope on, etc.,
...in March, the Ford Ranger was on road tyres and only got stuck twice (but no fancy traction control)
...that's why you are going round in a group with a guide (with a winch, tow-ropes, etc.,). You won't get truly stuck (as in being left in the middle of nowhere in the rain / dark and the RAC refusing to try and get to you): it'd probably only be a couple of minutes with a rope and you can send a photo to your ex-passenger.
Ring Tom if you are worried (or just to let him know).
(Before I leave home, I take the trim off the bumper to expose the recovery point so its easy to get to)
See you tomorrow.

You'll be fine . Worse case scenario is you get stuck and Tom pulls you out with his mahoosive defender.
Have fun.
Ha ha! Well, that was fun! I don't think I met Packman (?) but it was nice to meet BundyDave (apologies if I was distracted at the start - I'd sent my brother to the wrong starting-point )
Scores on the doors for my RRS:
- 2 door trims lost
+1 door trim found in a rut and handed back
- 1 tyre (puncture)
- 0.5 for leaky spare
My wife used this evidence to re-iterate why I am never, ever, going to be allowed to use her D4.
A nice sunny day made Salisbury Plain look like somewhere exotic.

Hi Huw - good to meet you and Packman also. Packman (don't know your name!) and I were in Shaun's group. Yes it was me who found your plastic panel in the mud - as I was collecting my own two pieces torn off by the nasty little tree stump on the left of the track!
We had a great time. Love my new All Terrain BFGs. Although Packman didn't help by achieving the same things with the same Pirelli Scorpion Zeros that I had previously.
I will probably get a couple more inches of ground clearance somehow before my next trip...
Some photos attached...
cheers
Dave

Looks like it was fun. I have only just got round to refitting the door trim I lost in March. Got some rock sliders and started fitting those today which should protect against those pesky tree stumps.
I was supposed to be off-roading in the Lake District this weekend. Despite what it says here, I've decided against it until I can sort out a hissing noise that started on the Salisbury Plain trip.

That is a bummer. Might be too late but hope you get it fixed.
