Maybe they could put some of the ROW petrol engines in their UK line-up then bring the hybrid and electric on line ASAP

As someone who’s bought several new cars over the last few years, the fuss over diesel isn’t what would stop me from buying another car now, it’s the lack of certainty, the impact of the reduced value of the pound and the likelihood of more difficult times ahead.

There’s not a lot that LR can do about that and fitting petrol engines will make little difference.

2023 to date: FL2 as a second car

2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200

If one wants to look at positive things, out of all LR vehicles, the new Disco is the only one which has increased sales in March compared to last year same month, this quarter compare to last year same quarter and this fiscal year compared to last fiscal year.

Of course the RR Velar wasn’t available last year for the same time intervals. Seems to sell as good as the D5 so far this fiscal year.

All other sales are down. Retail sales volume this fiscal year and previous has increased by around 10k vehicles to 614k.


How many demonstrator D5’s can LR dealers register in one year ?

JLR overall sales figures show that they are 10k up on where they were this time last year - not bad considering the noise around Brexit and Diesel in Europe/UK (two biggest markets)

A lot of doom-mongering on here - much more up-beat on Disco5 Whistle

Land Rover currently have about 500 used D5’s on their web site for sale in the UK.

I would assume that the majority of those would be Pre Reg/Demo models.
Although now being a year old some folks would have traded them in for newer or different models.

All manufacturers pre reg cars to hike the figures especially high volume sellers.
Also helps keep the production lines busy.

Being an expensive ‘Prestige’ model I am surprised at how many used D5’s are available.

I think there’ll be a lot of Management Role cars in there.

As for keeping production lines busy, no manufacturers build for the sake of building. That’s a one way road to bankruptcy.
