For Sale - Multi Height TowBar
Hi All,
I'm getting my D3 now on 1st or 2nd March
When I ordered, I spec'd permanent Tow Bar and then changed my mind. Was so tied up trying to get the DiffLock on, that I forgot to tell them I didn't want the TB.
It's just too much of a faff to change all the finance details to get them to take it off the order now that the cars been built, that I've asked the suppying dealer to just put it in a box in the back of the car & not install it.
So, coming up for sale at the beginning of March, 1 Brand New Permanent Multi-Height Towbar. Never used and 100% genuine Land Rover.
Looking for offers, full price according to the accessories brochure is £287.88.
I think I've seen a post that quoted about £220 from Nick at Yeovil (correct me if that's wrong)
Anyone interested, let me know, I'm sure delivery can be arranged through the D3 Network, I'm near to J6 of M54 & go down the M6/M1 to Northampton reasonably regularly.

No plans yet - but if anyone is going north some where near Glasgow I can meet or collect. I might even be able to arrange transport from Manchester area if needed. Potential son-in-laws are usually helpful!!

My dealer has told me that the multi height towbar has recently been withdrawn as an option and that the removable swan neck is the only option now being offered. Any one know anything more?niknok

Totally agree, has anyone else tried to order one?niknok
I have had an adjustable towbar on LR backorder for 3 months with my local LR dealer and still no joy. The dealer phoned witter a week ago to be told that there was a towbar on the test track as they spoke in final testing and if it passed it would go into immediate production. Can only be good news!!!

Does this mean an end to offroad ploughing matches for tow-bar equiped D3s???
Or perhaps they're upgrading to dual furrow!!! Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?

I bought a quick release tow bar from Nick at Yeovil last week - fitted it all O.K. but the conclusion when towing a 12' twin axle trailer is - Should have been a muilti-height - The quick release is about 40 mm too low.
I asked Nick about swopping it and the problem was :-
"Bad news I’m afraid, this came up when I questioned Land Rover yesterday with ref to the multi-height towbar. After much phoning we get a reply that the towbars in question will not be available till late March early April….What I hear you cry….yes
apparently China has bought up huge quantities of steel which has left the manufacturer of the towbar without sufficient to fulfill their quota.
It sounds so pathetic that it must be true……. "
Has anyone got the multi-height fitted - what's it like ??

Hi, tfl_golf, I have the multi height tow bar fitted (mainly cos it holds the LR bike carrier), it is not the prettiest of towbars, but serves the purpose and is a solid piece of kit, and is adjustable for 350mm,400mm,and 450mm tow ball heights ISTR. If you do much offroading, it would act as a good plough, as mentioned on this site. Hope this helps.
Multi height tow bar on D3 is classed as a single furrow reversible plough,
Joking apart my working D3 on trailer work is as much use as no use with the standard quick hitch, I know it does not suit everybody and does act as a plough or an anchor in rough terrain, but a twin axle trailer with a high hitch and the back trailer wheels off the deck is asking for trouble.
As I said earlier I think the witter multi height tow-bar will be available soon for those people with high neck trailers.
MOAN TIME
I bought a new D3 4 months ago and just taken delivery of another for my father, I bought it for work and towing and I think it stinks for a company to get it so wrong in selling a workhorse without a saddle. As far as I am concerned LR can stick it I will wait for a witter tow-bar.
It’s a sad affair that they blame it on china for buying all the steel, are they selling more 4x4’s in china than LR sorry does not wash LR you have cocked up.
