Is it the earlier one with the fbh light or the later type with the headlight warning light?

Sorry not sure i believe its the headlight one I bought it 2nd hand but never fitted it I was told it was off a 55/6 plate disco by the seller. Is there any way I can tell

If it’s from a 55 or 56 reg it will have the fbh light not the headlights. You should be able to tell from the part number too.

The fbh light won’t work, unless you’ve updated the software for the clock on display mod with the unmodified version IID, webasto software and workshop facility's available.

Yeah you probably have.
It was originally intended to be used via the radio but there was problems with the car taking control of the FBH so a software update did away with it and it's been redundant ever since.
If you do the clock on dash upgrade to later firmware the FBH light will suddenly be illuminated every time you put your lights on as on the later dashboards the same place shows a "Lights On" symbol. Mods:

Very interesting all these comments. I am not in any way able to comment technically. I bought the Instrament pack 2 d hand believing it would be a "Plug n Play replacement as I was told. Not so I found out so It is no longer any use to me. If it's of any use to any one else make me a sensible offer & pay postage then it's yours. John
