Just driven about 500 miles through France and didn't see a D5. Saw at least 10 D4s and maybe 5 D3s (both UK and Fr) along with a handful of Disco Sports and a good number of FFs and RR Sports as well as a couple of classics.
See quite a few D5s around Cirencester area these days though. Its looks are growing on me slowly.2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Intriguing - as the car’s the same, what changed?
When the D5 was first announced I really didn't like its 'form over function' design, and apparent lack of practicality. Not at all keen on it aesthetically either. In fact, I was very disappointed and had a list of reasons not to buy one!
Since then, the design has grown on me (perhaps due to familiarity), and I have realised that in reality (as opposed to what is in my head) that it will do all that I need of it. I like the improvement in tech and toys as well, although I think it has a way to go yet to catch up with other makes.
Having been drawn to the idea of owning a D5, I visited our local dealer and was offered such a good deal on an already built HSE that it was enough to tip the balance for me. 15% off list, or the equivalent of 20% off list of a factory order to the same spec, due to the price increase for the MY19. I am disappointed by the lack of colour choice though and there are still things that I am not convinced about.
There are still aspects of the D4 that I greatly prefer over the D5, but I figured that I will have to change at some time and the longer I keep the car, the more difficult it will be to say goodbye, and there is nothing else out there that grabs me at all as a replacement. I thought about a full fat RR, but too expensive for me to justify.
Have I made the right decision? Time will tell.
Thanks all for your kind comments.

Lovely colour combo. Our last 110 was Aintree and I’m a massive fan. Also like the fact this hasn’t got privacy. Just looks proper old money spec.
