Hi all - I’ll be caught by the expanded ULEZ , so although I’d planned to run this car for many more years, it will have to be sold cheers Sadiq
This is a great forum , I’ve not seen any others that come anywhere close to the expertise on this site , so I’ll give selling it a go here first.
History:
Registered 07.03.2006 cheaper car tax £360 , rather than £630 if a month older.
Buckingham blue with full leather, looks black but I think is a very deep blue.
1 previous owner , a Director at LandRover (now a senior figure at Ford). I bought it in July 07 27k miles.
Service history: serviced by LandRover main dealers until sold to me.
Serviced by Saxon 4x4 Landrover specialist July 08/ sept 09. Put on Autoprotect plan from Saxton Mar 09- Mar 12.
Serviced by Stratstone Hainault Aug 11, Feb 12, Feb 13 and Feb 2015.
Got fed up of Stratstone advising extra works needed doing when not needed i.e. there is a bit of oil in the inter cooler house , we think the Turbo needs replacing! , Turbo is still fine. At this stage I thought I’d be better off using a trusted independent servicer. This is when I registered with the Forum, and moved servicing to Geoff ( Faultmate Services) on the back of recommendation on this site.
Geoff Apr 15 , new alternator , EGR blank, Geoff Aug 15 further works , Geoff Sep 16 V8 brake upgrade inc all discs and pads, Geoff Nov 16 , front and rear belts / oil pump and water pump replaced c78k.
Geoff full service Mar 17 and Mar 18 inc front front wheel bearings. Geoff stopped servicing, so I moved servicing to Fastback Land Rover specialist in Rainham on recommendation. Serviced Mar 19 including poly brush conversion, Mar 20 full service , Dec 20 new brake pads and new seal and gasket on an engine oil leak, Mar 21 service. Mar 22 full service. Sep 22 front suspension height sensor replaced . Mot due end of Mar 23, so I will service and mot via Fastback pre-sale.
Other servicing/ features: new aircon condensor and re-gas, in front autos June 21. New winch , new alloy and tyre in Aug 11 (toe rags nicked the spare). RLD plate now fitted. New battery Aug 22, 2 new Pirelli scorpion front tyres Aug 22.
Detachable landrover towbar and electrics included, light towing only , I have a 7x4 trailer for transporting family bikes etc. privacy glass, TV screens in back of front seats, Cd player and wireless headphones ( a godsend for long trips when kids aren’t old enough to hold iPads etc).
Known issues : gas struts for holding up rear tailgate failing, so will be replaced. Drivers heated seat element needs replacing, I’ll order a replacement, small tear on front passenger seat skirt, can be dealt with post heating element change.
£4,750.

Thanks Stu , I see you’re still holding on to an early year D3, I wish I had that option. How’s the new defender?

Can't imagine parting with my D3, very similar mileage to yours. Fortunately I don't live under Sadiq's regime.
New Def is pretty much the successor to the D3/D4 only quieter, faster and handles better but definitely not as practical.Stu

ULEZ
hi there i saw a you tube video other day and theres a loop hole for ulez...
It said that you need a Coc to prove your Nox gases are under a certain amount i happend to have my COC for my 06 d3 next to me it was below the NOX level to be ULEZ charge free ...
You send a copy of the Coc off to who he mentioned in the video Dvla/ulez london /birmingham / sheffield and that was it sorted and then check on the ULEZ sites and it was there free of charge .
IT was you tuber motorhause i think thats how it was spelled he did it on a old 911....
Idont know how true but seemed to know his stuff and whoyou needed annd what wwas needed to get it changed..
Hope this helps any one not just LR owners

A 911 is petrol so won't have the issues with particles. I doubt an old diesel would comply but you never know! New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)
Sold Volvo XC90 R-Design (known as Basil)
Sold - D4 HSE (Known as Gerty)
No longer the Old Buses original owner
231,000 miles and counting
05 S manual owned from March 2005
D4 Face lifted
Still original injectors and turbo
V8 Front brakes
BAS Remap, Allisport Intercooler and deCat
EGRs blanked
T-Max split charge
Hanibal Expeedition rack
Prospeed ladder
Duratrac tyres
IID BT
BAS FBH control

You cannot get around the ulez with an old diesel......you can with old petrol engine cars with a c of c and proof of emmissions

Looks like a lovely D3 at a great price, just like mine but with less than half the miles
I'm continuing to run the old girl even within the ULEZ but then again I don't need to use it every day so is affordable at the moment.
Good luck with the sale - I would definitely be buying if mine went to LR heaven.

An interesting point on the coc and worth checking but according to my v5, I think it fails on all categories but CO levels. I did have an 02 petrol Passat that met ulez but diesels even up to 2015 seem to get caught
