SafeFill - again
Having searched the forum for info - I note it's a while since anyone asked the question. With the big R looming on the horizon, we're looking to use the caravan a lot more (home and abroad).
So......,
Does anyone here have a SafeFill bottle ?
Any issues in getting it filled - yes / no ?
If YES - what are the issues.
If NO - where do you get your refills.
Do you consider your purchase to be a worthwhile investment or is it just a PITA that you could do without
Thanks in anticipation
Steve

I have a Safefill fantastic bit of kit expensive on the outset but will pay for itself in no time if you use it as much as I do !
No problems filling it up at the nearest LPG petrol station at about a third of the cost of an equivalent sized calor
I have the blue one which is the biggest one but I have been told they are bringing 2 smaller sizes out later in the year
Definitely recommended reckon I have saved over £200 this year alone
Cheers

I don't know what safe fill is but we have a Dual Gaslow system, seems to be very economical, a full month on France with 2kw Honda EU20i generator used on occasions and Cadac BBQ most nights and during the day plus a Waeco double hob and internal use of oven and hobs, cost £10 to refill with LPG on our return

Thanks Sharky - my problem is that Morrisons is my local LPG station so I wrote to them and this is what they said.......................
Good afternoon
Thank you for contacting us.
Unfortunately Morrisons does not permit the refilling of portable LPG vessels. We have risk assessed this procedure and based on the results we have chosen not to permit it in out filling stations.

I just pull up and fill it the staff just don't get paid enough to care !!
If you don't want to go to a petrol station do you have an Indy gas supplier who would fill it ?
From memory if you go onto the safefill web site it list suppliers who will fill them for ya

I just looked Safefill up, seems a great system once the initial costs have been covered like Gaslow, I think you would need to be pretty sure that you would get value out of it though and do a cost analysis, I don't get value out of my system but it was pre fitted when we bought the motorhome, it would be a hard decision to decide whether to pay out thousands of pounds for it if it wasn't already fitted as we only use once it once or twice a year. Safefill is a lot cheaper and may have been my choice if I had to make it, the only issue is the safety aspect of filling which I have seen mentioned on forums, could be a pain if out and about to find a place that would let you fill it, planning would be required whereas Gaslow is any LPG outlet.

I use my safefill mainly for camping and as the safefill bottles are made from a tough plastic and does not have any gauges to get bashed or smashed when being loaded and lashed, it is a bit more robust in my opinion than the gaslow.
You can like the gaslow fill it at any LPG outlet unless of course you take it to Morrisons
I take mine to good old Shell 8)MY18 D5 HSE LUX😎

I must say when I have filled my Gaslow system which is a fixed in system with the LPG filler cap I have never had anyone come over to see what I am doing, how would they know it was a fixed system or not, I haven't heard of any recent incidents of garages blowing up by someone using Safefill, but then I haven't heard of any recent issues with mobile phones blowing up garages either when used on the forecourt
