Safari Snorkel SS385HF to V8 Petrol

Has anyone fitted the LR3/D3 Safari Snorkel to a petrol V8? I have a 2005 LHD LR3, NAS. Safari is non-committal on if it will fit per their emails to me and others. I am not interested in the G4, even tough it looks better, because it is not water tight. The goal is to keep muddy splash water and "oh CRAP!! Where did that hole come from!" water out of the intake, not to enable deep water wading.

Lookat the fitting instructions on this page.
If the V8 air intake looks the same it should work.

The G4 will be OK for your requirements. These vehicles have G4 RAI fitted. And I am sure you will find loads more pictures of vehicles doing the same with the G4 RAI fitted.

Take a look at this idiot

Laughing Those are some of my all time favorite vids.

The G4 will do you fine in keeping splashing mud and water out of the intake. After romps in the mud my air box has been kept dry.

Was there any leakage of water (other than from the driver Shocked ) into the car when you got in to the really deep bit?

Robert

Never had any problem of ingress on my Land Rover RAI, I'd be a little worried about the electronics
if I exceeded the maximum wading depth so happy with the RAI and the Bow Wave method me thinks!
In that way you can still do 1m + but remember no stopping to admire the view!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a sexual position (Bow Wave Method!)

That's about what I expect. From the comments, I expect the RAI from LR will do fine then, and offer no warranty excuses!! What is the best source for the LR RAI?

Hi Rob,
Regarding the RAI, I don't think that you should forget LR's maximum wading depth of 600mm for coil-sprung vehicles & 700mm(?) for air suspension at extended height.

Best Wishes,
Peter
