Rusty wheel mounts
I've done a search on this, although it may be hiding in a thread somewhere...
Has anyone got/had rusty wheel mounts/bores? Ours had them when we had a test drive and they told us it would go away.
Guess what, it hasn't!
I cannot understand why a vehicle which is less than 10 months old and completely spotless inside, outside and underneath should be like this.
I think I should complain to the dealer.....

Not sure what you mean by this, do you mean the wheel nuts have gone rusty? or is it the brake disc/hub unit that you can see through the wheel?
Certainly my car has no visible rust, but the brake dust sticks like S**t to a blanket and can look like rust if you don't clean it properly.

I think I'll take it to the dealer, after all they said the rust would go away and it hasn't!
What worries me is if the outside is rusty, maybe it is inside too.
When we go up our hill (1:9) we can hear a very low whining noise as if two surfaces are rubbing....
After a while it goes away.

I would definitly take that back. Mine does not have squeeky brakes either, so possibly Land Rover have a sub standard batch of discs? If its that rusty inside then no wonder it squeaks!

Just been talking to the sales manager at Lakeland LR, told him the situation, sent him a photo...
Will wait and see.
I'm wondering if this rust is a result of excessive heat build up?

Don't think so! I drive pretty hard, and like I say, mine has shiny silver hubs still. Mine is a Nov 04 car.

I noticed this afternoon that at least one of mine is just like that (didn't check the rest). The Brake disks themselves are nice clean and shinny, but the hub like bit where the wheels bolt on is rusty.
I'm interested in seeing what your dealer comes back with. Coffeecup

My car has covered under 9k and has rust on both rear hubs and some of the wheel nuts. I have just spoken to the LR dealer service dept where the car is going to get some warranty work done and been told "they go like that, it's normal". It doesn't look very good and I am not too happy. I will take it up again with them next week when the car is in. Fuji White, Auto with Surround Camera

Been to the dealer...
They did tell me that they had a few Discos ('06 models) in the lot and they all had rusty mounts.
They also said they will replace all four mounts themselves (LR do not have a warranty/recall on them). So we are pleased to say the least.
Looking at the new models, and some 54 reg's in for service, none had any appreciable rust on them!!
