May I ask a daft question plse

Where cars that have aluminium components etc , everything up to temperature could by driving through deeper water than normal could the large volume of water cause cold shock damage / cracking to components like the gearbox, sump etc

Once again apologies for the daft question

I would expect that components that might be subject to cold shock - and just driving through a deep puddle on the road can throw a lot of water up under the car - would be designed accordingly. They are obviously designed knowing that they have to endure a range of temperatures from freezing cold to fully hot so should have that ability built in.

Many thks , also see they have a collection of number plates and panels by the side of the road

I have to say I'm hooked on the Rufford Ford videos.

I can't believe the efforts so many people go to in order to destroy their engines, many of them in a depth of water that wouldn't go over the top of your wellies. I particularly like the ones that have completely misunderstood the bow wave bit and inch ever so carefully into the water before accelerating as hard as possible so that the bonnet is covered in water.

Wonder if a sign showing the costs to replace engines of various models would put some off Whistle

Indeed as u say they drop the front wheels into the water then go for leather , then wonder why they don’t reach the other side as water comes over the bonnet

Well the cheering hordes with video cameras and queue of dead cars at the side don't seem to be enough warning so why not?

CoPart/Trents/et-al could park a couple of their trucks nearby each with a suitably drowned car on the top deck. Car drowned, winch line attached, load up and return to the waiting queue of such trucks. Repeat until loaded, call base to get the next truck the report for duty. There's not much value left in most cars once the engine has been drowned along with the seats & carpets....

That Kenilworth one is pretty bad really. That should have been shut and enforced as such. The female copper filming them crossing (unless filming for evidence) should have pulled them over and turned them around. Very deep, cross flow with some velocity in it - recipe for a washed away vehicle, even a tricked up early Disco or Defender.

When the water is nearly up to the window cills and the only thing preventing you floating away is the leaks letting water in, there's no excuse to be doing that. Some poor sod will end up risking their life rescuing one of those people one day because they think they're invincible.

That D3 is not unfamiliar with driving like a Censored .

Amazingly, even cars like a Yaris get through when driven well.

I would have thought so being a built up area , plus didn’t realise the detour to avoid the ford is only around 3 x miles

Impressed to see an Evoque make it through 3ft/900mm of water at the ford. Recommended max is 600mm (IIRC). The D4 and the L322 FFRR also going over their recommended depth with ease. Loved the Fiat 500 that floated the rear and then reversed out. Classy. Laughing

So the 700mm the standing-still wading depth I take it? And so a deeper depth could be achieved by timing your bow wave just right, which I guess is what the cars RRSTDV8 is referring to?

30 limit signage clearly visible whilst the driver moans about being video'd.

And wtf is the guy in the wheelchair trying to do ?
