RRS wheels on a D3

Bought a very nice set from a forum member earlier in the year but i now understand that some are not up to the weight rating for the vehicle. The D3 currently has roof rack and snorkel fitted but in the next few weeks will have rock sliders, LR/Warn winch tray with 1300lb winch and some under armour. Am i best going back to the original HSE alloys if only to please the insurance company ?. Many thanks in advance for any replies.

I’m not aware of any issues, many folk have put RRS wheels on. If they are genuine LR I don’t think they are a problem.

Hi,
I notified our insurance and as long as they were Genuine L/R and not Aftermarket type they were happy and not a modification

as above its more tyre size and their rating (RRS think is 107? and D3 111)

Although I also ran 255/55 (not 50) 19's on our RRS and again notified insurance they were happy if it was a size originally fitted to ANY RRS when new (the G4's had them Smile )

just for info the 2 most common RRS wheels have a fair difference in their weight,
even though they look very similar (no can not remember which way round it is Rolling Eyes )

Thumbs Up

D3 alloys were generally weight rated at 940Kg, where as RRS were 900kg. There are some copies around rated at 600kg - these are the ones to aviod. There are some copies rated at 1040Kg.

It is more the tyre size and rating I would concentrate on, so for the D3 you are looking at 111 or above (alougth a few, including me have run 110 with no issues). For the D4 is 109.

Thanks for the replies guys, the plan is to run with Goodyear Duratrac 255/55x19 and remove the General Grabbers with the same size tyres.
