It's more than likely a Land-Rover owned vehicle on loan (permanent?)
Could be. The royal family have a long association with LR products and I'm sure it doesn't do LR any harm in PR terms! The Royal Protection mob seem to have a love affair with black RRs too...

Prince Charles has granted a Royal Warrant to Land Rover.
In fact Land Rover is the only Company to have 4 Vehicle Manufacturer Warrants - Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, The Queen Mother (Warrant last for 5 years) and Price Charles.
Prince Charles has however granted the following other Vehicle Manufacturer Royal Warrants:
Aston Martin Lagonda
Bently
Ford
Jaguar
MG Rover
Vauxhall

The Royals should set an example to us all and dispose of their fuel guzzling 4WDs. To see Charles driving one whilst being interviewed was ironic to say the least!

Think this one could backfire (the interview, not the Disco 3 )

I think Ms Buxton might be better off complaining about HRH's, alleged naturally, erstwhile 5 seater Bentley antics. Anyone remember the story in the press a while ago about him jetting off to some conference (about the environment?) in Eastern Europe and getting his chauffeur to drive the otherwise empty Bentley all the way across Europe so HRH could then drive it home??!!
On a serious note, it is so annoying that those who bleat about gas guzzlers don't seem to be able to read comparative MPG figures very well. There are hundreds of saloons that are worse than a diesel D3
The anti 4x4 brigade are out in force on the 'Have your Say' page that 10FC mentioned.
I must say when I read the one that says something along the lines that HRH couldn't comment on the environment because he drives a gas-guzzling [sic] 4x4 and was an adulterer, I got a bit confused and lost the will to live..

3% of carbon emissions are man-made - of these 20% is from vehicles (including public transport) 15% from deforestation and burning of land in developing countries and the rest from industrialisation and energy generation. Population growth from 1.5 to 6.5 billion over 150 years is a major factor. Stop the deforestation, convert ASAP to nuclear energy and curb population growth - please get away from the childish trivia about 4X4's - it really is not an issue in the big picture.

Who cares, the point is Charlie is seen with a 'so called' anti social car and today he was spouting about the future and gases etc.
