Row 3 reading lights as automatic courtesy lights
Does anybody know how to make row 3 reading lights come on automatically with the rest of the interior courtesy lights?
I find that they're great for giving me more light in the boot, but it's a bit of a pain having to climb in and out of the boot to switch them on and off.
Thanks

reading lights
I am thinking of doing that, but all of them, plus some extra lights.
Got to be careful of the Cambus system.
Cheers
I thought they just came on as courtesy lights if they were left in the 'off' position.
I'm sure mine do that. I'll have a look in a bit.

DiscoDad: mine defintely don't come on with the rest of the lights. I'll ask the garage when it goes in for its first service next month.

I was out earlier and remembered this thread. My light came on automatically (finished journey, engine off, got out, went round back, opened up top and bottom and all three rows were lit).

The boot lights with switches do go out when you lock the car. However, if switched on they stay on permanently even with all doors closed and when you're driving.Andy

They do, but only after a while. They won't stay on all day, but will switch back on as soon as you unlock the D3 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

Absolutely, it's the reading lights by the rear windows that I'd like to come on and off with the rest of the interior courtesy lights. I find that those row 3 reading lights provide excellent illumination for the boot: the solitary overhead light above the boot is rather pathetic.
I have tried various switching combinations to achieve that effect without success. Unless someone such as Wiggs can confirm that it can be configured electronically, I'm contemplating just running a wire from the back of the centre light inside the headlining to each of the row three lights.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. Wasn't intending to remove it but use a "mouse" thingy to pull wire through. Just been out to check mine - if switched ON, they go on & off with the other courtesy lights, if OFF they do nothing.
Odd thing is though, they go on or off directly - without the "fade" function that all the others do
Maybe it differs according to the year of build, I would suspect they are programmable though.Clive
