Routing cable for speed camera detector
has anyone any bright ideas for a neat route for either a lighter socket or permanent 12v cable to run to a screen mounted detector? as opposed to having it dangling all over the dash.

Come up from the fuse panel behind the glove box. I think it's socket 21 that's permanent and available but there's experts on here that will confirm. I then cabled to the right behind the heater controls across beneath the drivers wheel and up the right hand side next to the A pillar. Sorry but I didn't take pics.

I seem to remember Wiggs did a neat installation for his Blackvue that took the cable through the headlining...might be worth searching for that (can't remember if he took pics or not) "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I have my snooper powered from a splice into the fag lighter wiring, ran it behind the kick panel under the glovebox, then up the pillar to the point it meets the dash, then it's hidden in the gap at the bottom of be screen til it gets to the middle of the screen and the snooper unit

Even easier to get to the cig lighters on a D4!
But why go all the way across? The fuse box is behind the glove box you had go past.

I just used a lead from the overhead lights panel for both my radar detector and my Cowon AC1 dash cam. The installation photos are from my 2006 RRS, but the 2013 LR4 I transferred everything on uses exactly the same wiring: http://www.rangerovers.net/forum/9-range-r...ector.htmlUmberto B

Just because I wired a few add ons in, all linked into the fag lighter power as I wanted them ign controlled, I guess I could have piggy backed a fuse, but as the H trim was out to wire in my Bury phone kit.........

Ignition Feed from fuse panel
Thanks for all the advice.
Before I get to take bits apart is there an ignition fed spare fuse in the fuse panel that I can use with the adapted fuse technique or another spare way that would be suitable
.
Realise that this is a pretty obvious question but knowing all about defenders and nothing about the disco thought I would ask.

Done the decent thing and had a search. Answers found. And bits purchased.
