2011 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 Base 7 Seat Auto Alaska White

Rough idle on tick over

Hi i have 2011 LR D4 3.0 V6
When I start the car when cold the idle or tick over the engine sounds really rough and if I leave it for a few minutes the engine changes tone and then runs fine I assume when it’s warmed up
Been to several garages and no one can seem to diagnose the problem

So thought I try on here if anyone else has had this problem

Check the amp draw of the glowplugs it should bei around 30 (not sure on that) per bank. I figured i start the fbh to heat the engine up a bit and it starts just fine with smooth idle.

How do you start the FBH as I thought it comes on when you start the engine

If you don’t have timed climate control you should get an iid tool or get a dealer to unlock it for you. Get a GSM activated Modul so you can start the fbh with your phone. There are many threads about this in here

Ok i have an IID tool just need to look up how i set this up then

Just to point out i have a GS model d4 so a basic car no touch screen for this to work on iphone do i need some other kit

Just an update to this problem / issue

If I drive the car immediately after starting the engine I get this issue of it running rough till the engine has warmed up I suppose but no matter how long I dive for 5 minutes or 45 minutes the minute I stop tbe engine and start it again after a few minutes I get the rough idle again

What I tend to do it start the car sit there for a few minutes let it warm up and then drive as it be fine

Please note I get no warning lights or codes for this

hmm okay, that does not sound like a glowplug issue. maybe check the injectors ? I can´t think of anything else really...

Yeah I’m thinking more injectors so will get them checked
