Keen to order as well. I've emailed them to find out about extra headsets.

Why not just fit it on top of the screen - when you are away and the alarm is off, the screen will be folded in anycase.

well the good news is that I've finsihed installing my A7, the bad news is that I've got to take it down again cause the wiring to the switch I put in must have got lose during the one and a half hours trying to get the screws to align with the mounting plate.

Before I take it down can anyone offer any tips on how to make this easier?

Discohead,

Not sure what the difficulty re the screw aligment ? any pics ?

How hard was the wiring ? Where did you get the power supply from.

A7 is on it's way

The screw issue was really because I found it really hard to get the screws to align with the fixings in the plate. It was just that I didn't have much room to play with and couldn't see what I was doing. Added to the problem of trying to hold the thing up in the air and it became really difficult. It was so fiddly that I must have been doing something wrong.

I've got to take it down over the weekend to fix the switch (which it now seems I didn't need as the whole thing seems to cut off after about tens minutes of locking the car up anyway). I also couldn't get the interior lights to work either.

Once I've fixed these two issues I'll take some photos of how I fixed the plate and make some notes of the wiring.

Sounds like there is a problem with your install, Discohead. Why would the unit switch off after 10 mins.....

The wire that should be 'switched' is the yellow ignition live that shuts down when the car is locked, but this doesn't shut off the illuminated switches - hence an actual cut off (switch) will.

The interior lights are the purple and black, as I said, and are a straight scotchlock on to place.

YAY finished....

The switch was grounding out on the fixing plate as there isn't a lot of room in the base. I insulated the connections and it works fine.

I'm not sure what happened with the lights. I rewired them and now they're fine so I guess the connections must have got damaged when I was struggling to get the fixing screws in.

As for re-fitting the unit. I got some longer screws from B&Q. This allowed me to get a couple in place so that the fittings were all aligned and much easier to do.

Big thanks to n1cktdv6 for starting all this off.

Wire connections I made were as follows:

Using the LR light fitting for the lights

Black (DVD) to Black (LR)
Red (DVD) to Purple (LR)

I also used the Green/white (LR) to the switch (which I added in the same way as n1cktdv6) and then the Red Switched Accessory (DVD).

Using the spare connector wires in the roof (which I guess are for the factory fit DVD or aircon)

Brown/Orange (LR) to the Yellow constant (DVD)
Black (DVD) to Black (LR).

Now I'm in no stretch of the imagination an electrician and would never suggest this is the right way to do this. However, my unit, switch, and lights all work as they should so I guess I did something right.

As a note to anyone thinking of doing this. My first every attempt to fit something to any car was the radio buttons. This was my second.

So, go for it.

Discohead,

Sorry for the stupid question but what's this extra switch for ? Is it to avoid the unit draining the battery by being left on ?

Thanks

It is. You're supposed to connect the unit up to a feed from the ignition but there isn't one available in the area. You can use the switch to turn the unit of manually. However, I had noticed that when the switch was grounding and therefore the unit was staying on after about 10 or 15 mins of locking the car the unit turned off. I watched this a couple of times and it was pretty consistent. Does seem to imply some sort of timed cut-off.
