Hi Zagonda, thanks
I will check any earths this evening again but everything was either insulated connections or taped so........
Scratched my head about the courtesy wiring (I am not an electrical guy ) but doesn't work wired up the other way.
Anyone got a scrap of paper sketch how they wired theirs up such that it works (I am at work so can't sketch how I did it until it is in front of me again). I assume the courtsey lights should behave as per the car ones..........if they stay on longer they are getting power until the car goes to sleep presumably. DVD player has no power though unless ignition key turned on and local switch is on.
Should anything be attached to the "4th" wire in the LR courtesy light harness?
Thanks

A couple of things though:
Now get fault and special programmes off everytime I start the engine and the dome lights stay on for 15 minutes on the Rosen unit regardless of what the others in the car do!!! They go off when you lock the car and come on when you unlock as normal but don't go off after a couple of minutes of inactivity like the others.
So I have obviously cocked something up. Simple tasks....... There is obviously something else you need to add to the system maybe..........
The special programmes fault will be down to a low charge on the battery (the 15 mins drain with the lights will cause it). . I get the same thing when the battery is low (generally in winter), but it all clears up after the car has started (ie. charge is put back into the battery)
cheers
Mart Still miss my D3

I have just fitted a Rosen Z8, nice unit with bigger screen and built in FM transmitter, fits nicely in place of the rear light unit. Just need to run a switched live up to it now, my hands are shredded, surprising how sharp bits of trim are!

Hello Discojim,
Was just thinking about a Z8, can you post a picture showing its position?
Thanks

Here is a picture I took this morning, the Z8 is very good although I am having issues with it, it takes several minutes after the ignition is turned on before it will turn on. I think it may be a voltage problem, I have been messing about with the car so much, leaving doors open and the ignition on that the battery is only reading 11.6v so I shall charge it overnight and see if that fixes it.
Oh, I can't insert an image so no help I'm afraid! [/img]

Well the day before our 7-8 hour drive the pesky thing packed up and would not turn on at all! The dealer assures me they have never had any faulty ones and is sending a replacement.
Definetly not a voltage or wiring problem, and the kids favorite DVD is stuck in it with no manual eject.........
