roof bars or roof rack?

My D3 came with land rover roof bars when I got it. Are there any nice racks out there that attach to the bars or should I ditch the bars all together and just get a stand alone rack? I really like the G4 one but I'm curous as to how it mounts to the step down part of the front of the roof?

The roof bars are nice they are just a funky shape and none of my thule rack stuff mounts to them.

I understand that 'Brownchurch' do a rack that fits directly on to the rails (not the cross bars)
I believe it's about 1.5 meters long - so is shorter than the full on G4 version.

The are small posts which bolt into a hole in the track on the lower section of roof. A spacer block sits under the rubber strip:

The rubber strip is placed back, and a post fitted which is then covered by plastic cover:

The back of the rack is held by the plates (marked x4), two each side which fit in the LR rails:

If you slide out the centre rubber/plastic strip then you can fit Thule T-track accessories directly to the bars...
