Reversing buzzer with trailer

Just hooked a trailer on to the new D4. When I reversed the trailer, the reversing buzzer came on? A quick press on the parking sensor switch silenced it. The last D4 never buzzed when trailer was connected?

Should I have to silence it each time? Had to do 3 shunts to get this trailer in a tight space and so had to silence it 3 times, which will get a bit annoying as I tow a trailer 80% of the time.

No, it should switch off automatically (leaving the front ones on) when the trailer electrics are connected.

However, it took my dealer 6 goes to sort out Rolling Eyes

If the electrics were LR and enabled then the reverse sensor should be cancelled when trailer electrics are attached Confused

Although my electrics were dealer fitted, and now work, eventually, when I look at the settings via my IID widget they are set to 13 pin when I have 7 pin fitted Rolling Eyes

The dealer did tell me that problems can occur with the rear sensors if you connect the socket with the ignition on (not that I ever have) and you would need to turn it off and back on.

Interesting. When I've got the caravan on, sometimes it'll sound and sometimes it won't. I haven't worked out yet why. All I know is that when you're trying to reverse a caravan, having the electronic equivalent of someone shouting in your ear "AAARGH, YOU'RE ABOUT TO HIT SOMETHING!!" is a tad off-putting.

Got used to the sensor going off every time I use reverse with the caravan electrics attached - just push the button to switch it off

Reversing is stressful enough with a caravan without that noise going off !

I know it is quick and easy just to turn them off (what I was doing), but at least having them working properly means you have the security of the front ones working.

I doubt the Front Ones would still work in the OP's D4, I've a MY13 with genuine electrics, when I plug the Tintent in, the Rears disable as they should, but also the Fronts are disabled. It's been checked out it is working as it should, LR changed the set up of the MY13 models, prior to MY13 the sensors apparantly were on two separate modules, one for the front one for the rears, now there is only one module doing Front and Rears.
I can live with now I know, but you would think that there would be something in the Handbook telling you that they have penny pinched, your watching where your reversing to, thinking no need to worry about the Gate Post with the front, the sensors will let you know, oh no they won't.

That's a bit of a con then if the fronts no longer work on newer models. As you say, easy to miss what the fronts doing when you are busy watching the rear.

It's too easy nowadays. When I was young and perfect I had to reverse cars with and without sensors and never hit anything.

It's called good driving. Whistle

Yes all well and good, but you didn't have them you were aware of it, when you think you have them but you don't then it's a different matter. Wink

It's the same on the RRS, muddywheels4x4 had the same problem with his RRS, Pratstones had mine in for a day until LRCS found they were working as they were designed, just the one module, Pratstones are still scratching there heads.

Yep - still trying to work out logic of that one Confused

MY10 front beeper on towing so perfect for my tight access Thumbs Up

MY13 no front beeper when towing nearly cost me a front bumper Shocked

3 trips to dealer trying to resolve before the information filtered through that a module had been removed so no longer possible to have front on when towing Banging Head

So vehicle price goes up but functions reduced to save a few quid Rolling Eyes

Getting back to op sounds like software update required following tow electric install Exclamation

Have you got LED lights on the trailer?

For some reason, LED's don't seem to register as any additional lighting load (additional resistance in the circuit is needed), meaning that your reversing sensors will continue to buzz as it effectively doesn't know you have a trailer on...

Annoying...

I have LED ones, had to have a box fitted, that then will supply the correct signals to activate the Trailer module, but if I start the engine with the drivers door open the sensors will sound off if reverse is selected, have to stop the it, close the door and restart.
