It's best to check with TLO (quickly before he leaves!) as I believe the colours might be different. It was a lighter shade of grey on the early models IIRC but I don't know when the cutoff was. Dennis

Mine has the cruise control but no radio buttons.
Bought from eBay an used set. Need now to put the hands on.
The radio will work perfectly? Mine has the basic radio/cd.
Also, is there a guide to build a tool to remove air bag pad?
Thanks a lot.

Yes the radio buttons will work straight away. No activating etc to do. It is a plain simple resistive ladder directly connected to the head unit.
To remove air bag, in a nutshell...
1. Turn ignition off, remove key, wait for 20 minutes to make sure car is totally asleep
2. insert removal tool into the tiny slot on the side of the wheel cowl, fumble around in there till you hook on something and pull...
3. Repeat on the other side of steering wheel.
Have a look here for some removal tool dimensions and what you're trying to hook on to.

You can make your own removal tool but make sure it is something very stiff as it requires some force when pulling. I made mine out of a relatively stiff coat hanger but it still buckled a couple of times and had to rebend it into shape a few times. Dennis

Thanks nghthawk.
I did the retrofit this afternoon.
I made the airbag removal tool. It is tricky to get the way, but once done, get easy to unspring the pad.
Good thing is that you don't need to disconnect the pad, so the fear is a bit lower.
I had 2 small issues.
The hor switch in my car is kind of chrome, almost that, and the one I bought was close to the switch assembly color.
So I disassembled both and changed the horn switch.
Also, after the complete reassembly, pad and everything, I noticed the horn switch was getting stuck. It was some friction between the switch and pad.
So I disconnected the battery all over again, removed the pad and rescrewed the switch assembly, forcing to leave a gap.
Looks fine now. And it really nice to have those radio controls at the steering.

Hello Guys,
how can I enable the Custom Settings?
I mean, at the owner manual, there is a chapter about settings you can change, like units, etc.
I have the high line cluster, but a S model. And now, with the steering radio buttons that is needed to navigate into menus for Custom Settings.
BUt I follow the process and nothing happens, what make me feel it need some enabling!
thanks again

I fitted cruise and radio controls to my S, then bought a leather steering which already had both fitted, so have both buttons which I have not got round to advertising if you are interested.

Thanks Ian... Would be helpful one week later... now I have the switches fitted.
The S Brazilian spec always has Cruise. So I retrofitted the radio portion!

The only way it MIGHT be possible to enable this functionality is via IID Tool or similar tools. But only GAP or BBS can confirm if this is at all possible.
I personally never bothered as the settings are pretty much as I wanted them already (Irish spec) Dennis

exactly this was my affirmation......I have great doubts that gap or blackbox are bothered to implement such a possibility due to the limited usefulness lost in translation!

The Gap IID BT tool can enable the "i" button. I did it on my base model. Some functions don't work as I don't have memory seats. Otherwise all is well. Freelander SE 2005 Auto.
