Retro Fit Land Rover TPMS?

Does anyone know if its possible to retro fit the Land Rover TPMS system and get it activated? I am assuming the latter is possible if you can find a friendly FaultMate owner.

Just wondered about getting the original system retro fitted to a Discovery 4?

I hear mixed reports including:-

Corrosion problems

Tyre fitters not wanting to handle it

Inaccuracy

I make do with a weekly check with a good accurate gauge & a decent compressor.

I just bought a decent digital tyre gauge. I've been looking around the site and it looks like those that do have the Land Rover TPMS (which isn't that many) seem to have problems with it. Sad

I fitted the system approved by Landrover which is available on here from site sponsor Trailair. Easy to fit and no programming. Trouble free for over twelve months.

Hello Wiggs,

I have the TPMS in my LR4 but no extra Menu in the settings.

Can you give me a short hint, were to enable it in the CCF/EUCD with my faultmate?

Thanks and greetings!

Frankly not worth the money - I have it fitted to mine. At one stage it failed and the only way to get it working again was a dealer vehicle reset to "as built" which wiped all of the BAS remote heat activations luckily Pete is a star and whilst up North reset them for me. When I did have a puncture it didn't notice to start with as the polling rate is only approximately once every 15 mins.

patrickl - Can you be more clear with your reply please, are you refering to the system fitted at manufacturing stage or with the Trailair which is fitted after manufacture ?

Not sure what problems you were having there as the reading is taken every 60 seconds onve the car is moving over 12 mph and then " more frequent" if it detects a problem. This is the genuine kit.

BBDisco3 - Sorry for the tardy reply, mine is the factory fitted version.

John - the source of my 15 mins latency was the local main dealer, who had enormous difficulty even getting any info from LR. If you have better info then fine, but the puncture I had didn't show and Wiggs doesn't seem to have anything other than a similar experience to me. What is/was the source of your 12 seconds data rate?

I've had TPMS on my previous car (Audi RS4 Avant) and that did throw up and error as soon as the pressure dropped by a couple of psi (it also pretended there was a problem on a number of occasions when there wasn't one, but better safe than flat).

I suspect the dealer was a little confused for some reason? Can't tell you why as I have watched mine whilst on an auto logic laptop and it says on the data info screen about the basic system info that it reads every 60 seconds once over 12 mph. This was true on my car as that's exactly what it did in real time. Some of the dealers seem to have great difficulty in accessing this system and again I cannot tell you why? My suggestion is a time restrain as the easy way to find a fault on the system is to remove the spare from the car and road test then move the same wheel around on the vehicle one corner at a time until the problem clears. This points to the wheel or reciever at that corner but is obviously very time consuming for a dealer and why I suspect the lazy diagnostics come in ( computer says its working). I was told by my local dealer that my replacement sensors would not work without a computer reset and even then it would be problematic. The truth is I fitted them at a local tyre depot and a quick drive round the block reset the system no problems so some difference in opinion there!

Retro fit of LR TPMS to D4

@Wiggs (or anyone else)

This is an old thread but I am interested to hear if you ever got this working properly?

And if so, what would it cost roughly for a MY12 D4? (I have wheels/tyres with the LR TPMS valves already)

Thanks
