Restricted performance, turbo?
I’ve got restricted performance and a red warning triangle on a 3.0d D4, it’s got various codes set related to airflow mostly. So I’ve cleared it down to get rid of any historical red herrings and I’m left with P006A and P004D, so map correlation and boost control solenoid B high.
Also looking at the live data the ones that jump out at me are boost pressure actuator Bank 2 desired and measured positions are miles apart, also bank 1 airflow is showing 0 g/s and bank 2 shows 5g/s at idle.
Mechanically it appears to have no obvious leaks or anything broken or split etc. I’ve swapped the afm’s over and it’s the same. Noticeably the right inlet doesn’t suck and this is evidenced if I give it a little squirt of carb cleaner in each inlet, left hand side gives me an instant rattle and the right does nothing at all. If I feel the exhausts then the right is noticeably colder (Read that as cold)
Any thoughts? My initial thought is the turbo on the right is blocked, possibly a seized shaft or more likely the actuator stuck with the VVT parts carboned up. Can the actuator be removed in situ and the shaft manipulated?

I’ve had a good look but can’t see any obvious cracks. I had the right hand exhaust off the turbo yesterday and there was zero output from it. I left it ticking over and it seemed to chatter and start to exhaust out of that side and then stop. I’m wondering if the actuator is jammed.

Not yet, I’m tempted to give it a good dose of oven cleaner I think.

No output from the RH turbo is normal. If left idling for approx 3 minutes, the TSOV (or CSOV, I forget ) kicks in and spins the turbo for a short while My D3 Build Thread

I know this is an old thread but I know have the same issue on my 2012 3.0 sdv6 commercial
I have changed the airflow, manifold sensors and still get restricted performance when under load.

What is the engine speed when you get the RP?
The secondary turbo only kicks in after 2800rpmJoe

Yes it’s an old thread. The left hand turbo had fractured, that was replaced and it was fine.

Quite high rpm i think i was accelerating hard from 30mph to 60mph but wasvwatching the road not the dash at the time

I’ve just had very similar with the P006A fault, tried the MAF and MAP clean, not split hoses I can see (although not checked underneath turbos yet)..... BUT....... did just find lots oil underneath the engine cover on the top of the RH manifold 🤬😡🤬
Looks like its spraying out somewhere and really doesn’t like any pressure build up under load.
Have topped up oil to be on safe side, although had only lost a little.
I’m assuming that this really doesn’t look good for a cracked RH intake manifold.... will have to book into Stonelake Halifax, don’t really want to drive it right over to JAS in York.
Not good..... just had a front bearing (changed both) and rear bearing failure in past few weeks, and due to rear being fully seized, had to change knuckle/half shaft at the same time.... also was service month as well.... been a super expensive month.RLD CB Bracket

No manifolds look dry
i will have another look over it tomorrow, spent all day Friday replacing suspension bushes and fuel tank pump on my D3 so decided to have the weekend to recover

Just an update it was a cracked LH manifold, nothing showed up with a smoke test but spraying brake cleaner on to it soon found the issue.
I have just changed both manifolds and replaced both belts while it was apart.
what a fun job that was, if i do it again the bodies coming off.
