As a safety issue for us here in Oz we need a reset switch that will dump a record of all the error codes to something like a USB memory stick and then clear all fault codes from the ECU. Then you can drive home to safety.
I just had a flat battery 12 hours before heading out into the Kimberly's, all the error codes lit up, transmission, HDC etc, and locked the car in fault limp home mode, without the power to tow our 3 ton caravan. We would have been really stuffed if this had happened three days later when out of mobile range and can't call for help.
Maybe this reset switch could be included with an air suspension over-ride, so we could control ride height.
Dealer has reset all fault codes and we are still using the old battery, when the car not in use the battery is on charge. We are waiting for a new battery to arrive then we will be on our way into West Oz. In situations like this a reset switch would get someone home.
Any thoughts on other requirements for such a device. Would it go in through the OBD2 connector?

SPOT ON, my thoughts to, As I understand the D2 could be reset by a sequence of turning things on and off in an particular order and time, the D3 may be too complex for this, and I think if it was so we would have a fat chance of LR giving us the code,
One thing leeds me to think this just may be so is the way the 9 times clicking the seat belt in to disable the seat belt bong, so may be someone may be able to find the reset sequence, Ford use the same computor and the seat belt trick came from someone in USA with a Ford. If it could be found it would be much more simple.
You are spot on about the suspension, we need this too.

What use would that be? with a discharged / faulty battery the majority of transient errors clear once the vehicle is started or the battery replaced... occasionally the transfer box will complain but this can be cleared by moving from high to low and back again a couple of times, any 'hard' faults will re-register in the relevant control unit after a flat battery anyay
One way of clearing faults is to disconnect the vehicle battery once the IHU has shutdown and the park brake warning light has gone off, leve it disconnected for a few minutes then reconnect

Some in Oz have had the thing not reset after doing all that, and had to have the vechle transported long distances from the middle of nowere to a steeler to reset the computor
