Replacing faulty air con pump |
|
Hi all.
Are in the process of replacing a faulty air con pump. Been reading a bit on the forum and can truly say it is a hassle. After approx. ten hours of wiggling pipes and hoses I finally got out the old unit. When I drained the oil from the old compressor it contained small metal flakes. The compressor had seized up really good it seems.
So to the million dollar question. Will a flush of the ac system suffice, or do I need to replace the condenser? Anything else you recommend changing?
I already have a new dryer and compressor, but no condenser.
Any advice and good ideas are very welcome.

In case AC compressor had seized, there is recomendation to replace condenser and drier. All pipes and evaporator needs to be flushed by organic solvens to remove old oil with debris. You can try flush condenser as well but it is not so easy due to parrael type of construction.
Good luck.!

Have read a whole lot on the subject. Came to the conclusion of changing both the compressor and the condenser/drier. Did not see any metal flakes in the high pressure pipe and decided not to do a flush of the evaporators. Flushing evaporators are quite a bit of work. Need to remove dash to access expansion valves since it is not possible to flush with them mounted.
Regassed the system today, and have nice cold air in the vents. Hopefully the system is ok now.
