Replacing bonnet land rover letters

I'd like to replace my bonnet "land rover" letters. My D3 had a run-in with a branch that scratched the paint and the bonnet had to be repainted 2 years ago. When the shop put the "land rover" letters back on the bonnet they didn't position them properly (it's not obvious to the average person but it doesn't look right to me). Should I be worried about any fading or marks if I remove the "land rover" letters and put a new set in the correct position? I wouldn't want to remove the current ones and put a new set of letters on the bonnet if there would be fading or dark spots from the old letters on the paint. Has anyone replaced the letters off of an older D3? I've read a few posts about removal tips / tricks - heat gun and dental floss to get under the letters. Any other tips / tricks advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Australia 2005 Discovery 3 4.0 V6 Petrol SE Auto Bonatti GreyDiscovery 3

Did mine about a year ago (car was about 20months old)... Bought the decals from Ebay.

The only difficulty is removing the old decals. they are stuck on like mad. Tried using a hair dryer to soften the glue and then prise them off using a sharp object but very careful not to scratch paint. In the end the plastic letters came off leaving the glue behind and removing this was just as painful. I used a paint prep cleaner (such as Dulux Prepsol) and with some effort and about half an hour all was off. I thouroughly cleaned paint and reapplied wax to the front of the bonnet. Note there was no fading of the paint or discolouration of any sort when decals were removed.

I then put masking tape along the bonnet in the location of the old decals (Make sure you take measuerments of original position of decals in relation to edge of bonnet etc) giving me a guide for the new decals. I then removed the wax form the area within the guide and then repositioned the decals. Presto job done - perfect.

Does anyone know if the 2003 Discovery II bonnet letters are the same as the 2004+ D3's? The bonnt letters look identical to me. Anyone know? Thanks.
