Replaced front parking sensor harness |
|
For a while I've had the parking sensors failing more often than not, dash message reads Front sensor failure. Fault codes read and revealed the inner offside front sensor at fault. I took the bumper off at the time and found a frayed and corroded wire, fixed it but still alarming. The parking sensors sometimes worked when the weather was wet though.
Anyway, today I finally changed the sensor for a new one and replaced the loom with a good second hand one. The problem is that the parking sensor still alarms as faulty with a short continuous tone and flashing switch, however the dash no longer gives the fault as a sensor.
I've done a hard reset to no avail and I'm going to clear the codes on Thursday when I borrow a mates diagnostic unit.
The question is, finally, does anyone know if the code reset is needed to get the parking sensor working correctly or is there something else I have to do? Dave

It should just work.
Changing 2 things was not good in this case.

I did the sensor first..... same result as now. I decided to change the harness too as it had a repair that could have been at fault. Dave
