replace front control arms |
|
Clunking under braking, slight wheel wobble, and play in the bushes => replacement of front control arms.
I understand it's better to get replacement arms and bushes all in one as replacing just the bushes is a PITA.
So how easy is it to change the arms, or should I call my friendly local garage do do it on their ramp? I have tools and an open garage. but no ramp..... (and precious little time!)

It isn’t easy, particularly, which is highly likely if the bolts need cutting, just changing the bushes is a no goer if time is a factor and you will need a power saw, it will also need 4 wheel alighnment after fitting. Budget around £500 for an independent to do it. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

My local garage did it for £130 and then I drove it very gingerly to the alignment shop for a full alignment at £80.
The arms came from advanced factors for £300.

It’s not that hard of a job, (I have a D3) I just recently done my 2nd lot of front bushes swap out, and pressed them out with a 10t press, if you don’t have a press or spare time then buy the complete arm is the best way
