Top work, amazing that these keys work given all the "You need to order from the dealer" hype.

The "need to order from a dealer" hype is so they can look up the correct cutting pattern for your car from their database. Nothing more.

In the process of replacing the worn casing on the two keys we have. Replacements key units have arrived today and hope to swop out old electronic unit and key blade into new shell.
What am I missing here. If I use the old key blade, and original electronics does the car still need to be paired as I wasn't aware that there was a microchip/transmitter in the old rubber key case?
Thanks

Update!

The £18.99 eBay key seems to have a flat battery and will not charge from the ignition.
This seems to answer the question about the battery being rechargeable or not.

Therefore I would only recommended the slightly more expensive one from autotoolscan in China.
I have been using this daily since last October now.

Have you opened it to see what battery type is in there?

I purchased this key for less than £20.
Best to have the blade cut when it arrives though, as the one from keysinthepost is too long for it.

I think this is a rechargeable.

Wow, less than £20! I'll give that a shot Smile Bargain, I'm just about to rebuild my one key with a new case and battery and that'll cost £10.

It looks like the right battery to be rechargeable

Many apologies to resurrect an old thread - but anybody able to confirm that the eBay link posted in one of the last messages is rechargeable, or anyone have any feedback for this. I'm still waiting for an email back from the shop in the original post, but if this one is rechargeable, for less than £20 I'll go for that!

Cheers

I wouldn't bother with the 20 quid ebay one. Mine programmed ok but stopped working after a few weeks. Tried to reprogram, tested the battery which was fine but key doesn't respond.

On the other hand my key from autotoolscan in China is working perfectly for well over a year now.

I had the issue. If you have the IDD tool it will not work.

The Autotoolscan item worked out at £53. I bought an used / "reset" LR with new LR case off eBay for £40.
