When to renew my Disco4?
Following on from the previous thread on whether to buy or lease, I would like to ask the oracles:
When is the best time to replace my 'owned' Disco4, which I got hot off the press in November 2009?
Now; when the warranty expires; later with extended warranty?
I guess the 'cheapest' solution is just to keep it until it starts costing more than 15k£ per year in maintenance (c.50£ purchase divided by 3 years). What do you reckon?2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)
2009 D4 HSE TDV6, Bali blue (first run D4)

I've never kept a Land Rover for less than 10 years. Eventually the list of bits I need to keep it going gets to the stage it is easier to get the factory to assemble them into a new one for me!A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.
I would say when you don't use , tire of it , and it starts to cost you an arm and leg , or breaks down every 5 mins ,
We're selling ours , because it doesn't go any where , just sits out side the house , we drive it less than 20 miles per week , so it's for sale , our d3 and use the money to fix up the house , 2008 ,hse, it does what it says .

Just ordered a replacement for our Jan 10 D4, the trade in value at the minute are pretty good so the change might not cost you as much as you think. Dealers I would have thought would rather have In Warranty cars as they will be probably be easier to re-sell for the piece of mind a manufacturers Warranty brings?2018 D5 3.0 HSE Lux

Well it's still a great motor, hasn't reall put a foot wrong, and I would only be selling it out of habit really; that and to keep me in warrenty but that seems to be an expensive way of carrying on; no matter how good the part-ex is.2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)

Reginald, i 'm in exactly the same boat. Do I change my HSE for a new one and spend about 18K or keep this one ???.
I still love it to bits and theres nothing wrong with it. Its running a sweet as a nut.!
So how would my feel good factor increase by getting a shiny new one?.
I suppose I could get the lighter interior and change the colour outside and get adaptive lights, which i miss from the last D3.
I dont think the new engine would be that more powerfull as I have a 245hp, but no cat.
The cost of an extended warranty is a pinch of salt in comparison, to 18K.
I keep seeing a lot of 55 plate D3's running around which is a good sign. All of them are in good nick body wise.
So I'll keep on thinking... yes, no, yes, no, yes.???????
To add to this swmbo, says its okay to get a new one if I thinks its time.
We are so lucky to be in this position, even if it makes our brains hurt
Let us all know what you decide

Yes indeed boatienz, as a mate of mine says, it's a nice problem to have. 8)
I am erring towards keeping it longer, say 5 years, in an attempt to reduce the overall cost of my motoring. I just need to weigh up the lower trade-in value at that point, given that that takes us up to 2014 and the impending D5 launch may depress D4 prices around then?
Then I need to peruse the many threads about extended warranties to see if any are worth the cash or just risk living without one.
As for you swingers out there, you should never let your significant other be in any doubt as to where your priorities lie: them or the Disco 2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)
