Removing my towbar

Wonder if anyone can help. I can't get the towbar on my D4 off. It's the "quick release" version - or in my case the non-release one!

The key I've got goes into the lock and turns quite happily, so the barrel is fine. But that's as far as I can go with releasing the towbar! If I pull out the green bit, it moves about the same amount as it will without the key installed, and doesn't want to turn or release the towbar in anyway!

Anyone any ideas (apart from going to a local dealer and making it their issue!)?

And / or a sharp tap with a 'persuader'.

As bigtam64 says.

However, I had the same issue and could not get it to move despite trying everything, even took it to a friendly
LR mechanic I know and he couldn't get it free either. Ended up replacing the barrel assembly, comes as whole thing
with green handle and new keys. Only cost about £12 from LR.

Please don't answer that!!

Realised that change the lock info should not be shared on what is an open resource forum.

Makes it harder to do then! Anyone near Dunstable know how to do it and fancy meeting up for a chat?

The advice is - buy the lock as usually all becomes clear...

Update

Finally got round to looking at my towbar yesterday. And I've got it off the car in a few minutes, can see how easy they are to pinch now!

Everything is intact (apart from one bit), so I don't need to buy anything new, just need to properly grease the locking mechanism. Was surprised how solid the grease inside was, for a car less than three years old!
