Removal of centre silencer TDV6

Hi all, does a straight through centre silencer removal make a huge difference to the exhaust note? I want something a bit more growly, but not too intrusive.

Cheers

I’ve had a look at the centre box today. Forgot how huge they are. I’m going to Fab up a Y piece and fit it in place of the centre box.

Will post process up when I do it.

You can buy them and someone was doing them for around £80-100 which is very reasonable, they're now retailing at £220+ which isn't so reasonable. It brings it into Porsche territory where you have to pay extra to remove something that's standard.

I don’t think it will be to difficult to do. I might have been tempted by £80, but £220 is a bit steep. I might rattle a few up and sell them myself 😂

Agree with Disco Mikey, just removing centre silencer and leaving the rear silencers gives the car a nice growl without being too loud for long journeys, any good independent exhaust shop that can fabricate in stainless will be able to make a replacement section for reasonable money under £100.
For what its worth I recently pulled up at a fuel station, one of our local independent Land Rover repair shop guy came over and positively commented on how sweet the low growl of the exhaust tone was as I pulled into the station, so go for it, if your close by you can always listen to mine before you take the plunge. Thumbs Up

On the V8 I've thought about looking to see if one of the boxes is a straight through with perforations in the tubes (i.e. an expansion box), in which case inserting a pair of tubes from front to back would remove the silencing without being noticable from outside.

Thanks for that... you’re a little far from me to come listen, but I have decided to do it when the body is off... cheers
