Removal of 2nd row cup holders?
Hi, dose any one know how to remove the cup holders in the back of the center console? I want to fit my DVD player & it would make a far better spot than under the middle seat as it is at the moment!D5 HSE Waitona Grey 2015

Not too sure, but in plumbing in a wire for the ipod, I yanked the back panel off the central console (having removed the hinges first) - appears to be a friction fit. I didn't think to inspect the cup holders, but you might see it better without this panel.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

in the true spirit of LR, I suspect a good yank (NOT the US kind)would do the trick..... seems to work with everything else

I thought of doing exactly that. Give it a go... (try before I do)... and let us know the result (pictures). Coffeecup

I`ve already tried to fit the dvd player in that slot, but it`s just a bit to small for a standard size DIN.
Went for a cheaper make dvd player that would fit in there, but had loads of trouble with it, and the drop down screen/ between sunroofs!!
The rattle was just so annoying!!
Then was talked into a drop down screen dvd player (centurion), which was even more rattley, and would only accept a disc on the 20th attempt!!
oh, and the sheer weight of it meant i was`nt able to close the centre sun screen!!
Tried using a PS2 along side the centurion, with the inverter fitted in the cup holder slot, but the interferance was horrific
The problem is now sorted, I have; Alpine dvd player under the passenger seat, a 7" screen clipped on the headrest, and the satnav is wired for dvd too.
When the funds are there, i`ll get both headrests fitted with 5" screens, it`s a shame they are`nt a bit wider......

Nick, so do you just jank it out, the cup holder that is?
I looked at fitting the DVD player under the front seats, but the sat nav player is in the way on the passengers & the amp is under the drivers!
I have also got 7" screen fixed to the back of the head rests which is a pain as I would like to have them mounted inside the head rest, but it is way to thin! D5 HSE Waitona Grey 2015

Just push these clippy things down, and pull............
It is quite fiddley though.....
Let me know how you get on, and if you find any reasonably priced screens for the headrests?

Not an easy operation - need two very thin palete knives. I ended up doing a little resculpting of the catches as I was using a couple of steak knives.
Unfortunately, the gap revealed has a few cable bumps and the like, so that what appears to take cheapo mcCheapo player leaves it projecting 6 inches. Would probably take a standard car hi-fi unit (1 DIN?), but I'll have to stick to leaving it in its knapsack in the centre footwell. Oh well.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

That's not anoying at all. I'd give up some space in the Centre Console if I could mount the kids DVD player there rather in the ruck-sack over the back of the seat. Coffeecup

I looked at these mounting options for a DVD and, in the end, bought a self contained dvd player with screen and it sits very nicely on the front centre arm rest when folded all the way back. If you leave the vehicle it can be stowed easilly in the front centre box unless you have the cold box fitted.

roof mount dvd screen
Guys
I had a Pyle DIN sized DVD player and roof mounted screen in my TD5, and want to put them in my D3. The obvious place for the screen is where the ultrasonic unit is on the roof. Can this be "relocated". I've already had this off the roof, and there is a crossmember which would be OK to mount the screen.
Also, I've noted your thread about removing the 2nd row cup holders, which I agree looks like a resonable place to put a din sized unit. My Pyle unit does not look quite as long as a car stereo. Has any of you tried running wiring up the door pillar to a screen. How did you get on with the airbags in the pillar?

I have the small Pyle DVD player & it would not fit where the cup holders came out of!
