Removable tow bar is...stuck
Hi folks
I've had my removable tow bar on the car for the past couple of years and was looking to take it off to put on my D4 (when it arrives).
Anyway like all good plans this one went tits up at the first stage as I can't get the key in the lock...it "feels" like the insides have siezed.
Tried the usual things - WD40, wait 24 hours and then jiggle it about (with micro screwdrivers). Still no movement.
Does anyone know if its possioble to drill them out and replace the lock?
Cheers

I've got the same issue. Whilst I understand it is pretty easy to change over....
1. Will the new lock just similarly jam up, or will it be fine if actually used? (I assume the towbar ha never been taken off because....)
2. Ours has the drop-plate with the diagonal "links". The towball is set at the "normal" height and I have no need to drop it. Given this - is there any reason for me not to remove this gubbins? (As the towbar can't easily be slipped on /off with it all in place). Looks like the (crap) image below.

I've just realise (duh) that the std removable towbar is obviously completely different to the above, so I'd need to do a full swap. Maybe I'll just leave it all on after all (and then the fact the lock has seized is no longer an issue.... )

Mine was on for 3.5 years and lock had siezed solid - took 3 days of soaking with WD40 and eventually it shifted - no way was I selling it with it on

Ahem...don't know how to ask this without getting slated...
Did you have to jiggle it or did it just come free after soaking?

And then got the missus to give it a mucky rub
Seriously, bar had a bit of play in the housing, but couldnt even get the key in the lock, so just kept soaking the lock, trying to force the key and WD40 tube into key hole - eventually got it moving - key is also small, difficult to grip and was worried about snapping it if I used to much force
Good luck!
