For the D4 im 99% sure you need to take the ECU out as its not possible to remap one via the OBD port.
Ahh ok - I just thought a remap was a fairly standard process but I’m guessing that people/companies do their own tweeks and then brand it as their own then!?

I believe the Alive maps version for later D4’s can be downloaded onto your IID tool apparently. D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo

Work it out for yourself. It can when others can't,

As I understand it, the crank issue is caused mainly through oil dilution.
Given the same engine in the RRS pushes out more power straight from the factory, a remap of a Disco is unlikely to have any bearing (note the pun) on the crank.

A quick search for D4 snapped crank produces 148 threads with a rough average of 30 replies to each, with the last one active on a 40k mile D4, I can’t see why anyone would want more power than that produced by the Standard D4 set up and increase the possibility of a snapped crank.
Just my opinion, no offence implied It can when others can't,

No offence taken my friend
Would be interested to see out of those numbers how many actually had remaps!
My main reason for wanting it done is for the turbo lag. Granted the d4 is no where near as bad as what the Evoque was, but at the same time still hesitate at junctions/roundabout etc

In my limited experience with a remap it will not improve economy in fact unless you change your driving style it will go down.
As for turbo lag it is something My D4 doesn’t suffer from quite the contrary, since changing the cam belts and cleaning the MAP and MAF sensors I have to be light on the accelerator peddle when starting off with passengers in otherwise I get ear ache.
If it’s not super performance you’re after I would check everything else is in order and working as it should first which is what a reputable MAP supplier would do, I had a BAS MAP put on my D3 and must admit the improvement was terrific but still not up to the basic D4, six months later it needed a new torque converter! Unless you specified a remap for an out and out performance boost, an increase in economy will happen as the general map is too improve when and how much fuel is delivered, and when and how long the turbo is operational.
Admittedly your use of the loud pedal will have to be modified to take full advantage, but if you don't see an improvement I would suggest your remap people had your pants down, unless of course you drive it like you have just stolen it.
I had all my trucks (Scania, Volvo & DAF) remapped, and the improvement was at least a 20% increase in economy, about the same in torque and 10% in bhp.
And to add, never any issues with regards to reliability or advancement of maker known problems.
