I’m on the verge of purchasing a new HSE from a Regvardy dealer in Perth. Has anyone out there had much dealing with this group, if so have you any thoughts, both positive and negative ? Confused

Pendragon group trying to buy them, oh and Lookers, who have made a better bid than them for Reg Vardy.

If Pendragon group get them the personal service will only go down hill, can't speak for Lookers taking them over, but then Pendragon may get both.

In 4 months 11 staff (long term) left my dealer, so continuity lost. If the staff stay (as there is no-where else to go as Pendragon seem to want to run the UK motor industry) you should be OK. They will all start moaning about 'profits before people', Pendragons unwritten motto.

You may get a good deal on your purchase from a big corporate due to their sales people being on the bread line until comission comes in at the end of a month or better a financial quarter. After that though you are pure income generation on the service side, you are better at an independant delaer LR franchised or otherwise.

It's a corporate world. These views are my own experiences, I cannot speak for the individual dealer you ask about. Hope it helps though.

'fraid I've had several less than satisfactory experiences with Rossleigh in Edinburgh (Part of the Reg Vardy Group) and even mentioning their name drives me mad Evil or Very Mad I know I sound bitter, but...well...I am Wink

Rossleigh truly are your best friend during the pre-sale portion, but completely lose interest post sale.

My personal view is - stay clear of them. Go to a smaller independent who will value your (repeat) business and support you should you encounter any post sale issues.

I believe Morrisons in Stirling are still independent (I may be wrong), but I have heard good things about them. Alternatively, try Pentland in Edinburgh - can't vouch for them, but can they be worse than Rossleigh? Laughing

The dealer I use is further south in Kelso but have proven to be excellent to deal with.

Glad we agree then. The big corporate dealers (generally) are the ones to avoid. It's the independants where you're business should be. Franchised or specialist.

Have a read of the Business Section in todays Sunday Times. Write up on Pendragon and its head shed.

Interesting article, maybe some of his management style has yet to filter down to the ex-CDBramall dealer staff, as my feeling is that they are not building long term relationships with customers.
That's unless he gets his way and takes over a large slice of the inustry so we can't shop elsewhere.

I belive rossleigh in edinburgh to be more than helpful with the odd fault on my discovery. Duncan on reception gets my votes.

I won't be going back to Rossleigh Edinburgh again and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Having waited 3 months for the towbar holder, and a couple of un-returned calls later I finally went in today for it to be fitted while I waited. I also wanted the HEVAC update and was told (twice) it would take about an hour.

2 1/2 hours later and the towbar holder was fitted but they ran out of time to do the software update so I was given the option of booking in again. Needless to say I will be off to Pentland Edinburgh tomorrow instead.

Whilst there, only two other customers were around - one had been told her car was ready at 4.30 (she was still there when I left at 6) and one was told a couple of times it would be about 5 minutes and after 1 1/2 hours he was told to bring his car back in the morning !!

Both Rosleigh in Perth, (and Town & County in Aberdeen) are my 'local' dealers. However, I'm off to Lakeland Land Rover (Lake District) tomorrow morning to pick up my brand new D3 SE Auto (no sleep tonight then!)

Reason - A world of difference in the treatment of the customer and a family run dealership which has already made me feel a part of it all. Nobody has made me feel like I am a 2nd class citizen for not buying an £80k Range Rover, and I don't feel I need to be wearing a shirt & tie just to walk through the door. I haven't even met any of them in person yet, but I'm still happy that they have my £40k in their bank today!!

I have bought 6 Discos in the past, but I've always previously felt like the car was a financial deal first and foremost. This time, I feel like I'm buying a Land Rover from a company who know (and care) about the car and the brand. I reckon I will probably be going back to the lakes for servicing too!

Also, I have found a few others on this site who have echoed my thoughts about Lakeland.

Having just watched the weather forecast, you'd better make sure they show you the grass/gravel/snow setting! Saturday night into Sunday looks significant for the Lakes.

Well I absolutely agree with the post about Lakeland Land Rover. I've bought a number of vehicles from them and as I've said in this forum before they actually understand The Land Rover "thing". The more recent vehicles including one of their ex-rental fleet I bought over the phone without seeing them: That's how much I trust them. If only I could afford the time to get my after-sales done there. My local dealer Guy Salmon, part of a large chain, really couldn't give a flying ______ about a car once it leaves the showroom and I know more about the product range than most of their sales people.

Hey Gareth, It's a different league for us hardy Scots! Look at my snowy Gallery pic (taken last weekend less than 10 miles from where I'm sitting) and then come back to me and talk about 'significant'.... 8)

Welcome to Lakeland Landrover D3 ownership!, your comments on service are spot on.

You will not be sorry you purchased your D3 from here.
