Red triangle, strong vibration, car shut down

Hi everyone, approx 4kms after having 2 new front tyres our Land Rover 4 started vibrating and we lost all power right in the middle of the road, managed to veer over to the verge. Mechanic initially thought fuel filter but turned out this wasn’t the case. Car turns on and vibrates but no power to move. Our nearest Land Rover agent is 4 hours away eeek. Any ideas what this could be? 170,000km on the clock

Hope it’s not a broken crank!

Ouch, thanks, do you think it has anything to do with the turbos?

Does it vibrate when ticking over or when you put it in drive?

I would start looking at battery cables and especially the engine earth strap.

Possibly an Injector? if a cylinder has stopped working, it may have vibration, and shut down?

have you checked the codes?

Oil filter

After popping into see the mechanic he showed me the oil filter which was full of metal filings, does anyone know why this would occur. Oil was drained and only 2l came out and should hold 7, no oil light had been going off. Does anyone know the possible cause?

Thanks, although it still runs then shuts itself down? Still the crank, I’m hoping for the best

the fact it still runs doesn't mean you've got away with it pal , it just means the bearings have been spat into the oil and cant get jammed into the crank as it turns , personally id stop running it , the crank maybe salvageable ?? take the oil filter out and look for metal fillings OR drop the oil and look there , I know its harsh pal but the reality is , your engine is toast Crying or Very sad

Thanks, I appreciate your feedback and your time. Is it worth rebuilding if toast or finding a 2nd hand engine? I have currently ordered a ship to truck 500kms to the nearest Land Rover specialist. I had oil dumped by mechanic, oil filings in filter.

from what ive read pal , these engines don't lend well to reconditioning , id get another unit , do all the necessary things like oil pump etc and maybe renew the bottom end bearing if the crank is mint , then get rid of it Laughing
