Red Suspension Light - Dropped to Bump Stop FIX |
|
Thought I'd post this as after a trip off roading despite the car running smoothly all day only showing up intermittent "Yellow" suspension warnings which clear once you reset the car, it was only until being back at the car park about to leave did the "Red" suspension light appear after resetting the car for the drive home.
This as people will be aware puts the car to its bump stops (not great with oversized tyres!) and limits driving to 30mph.
After throwing a jack under multiple sides and raising the vehicle the light changed to "Yellow" and the compressor kicked into life although the front in particular kept dropping once the jack was released.
ID tool indicated a fault with the rear height sensors despite the rear raising and staying up.
After limping to the nearest service station only after taking the front right hand wheel off did it show that the LIFT ROD HAD FELL OFF!
Once it was reattached suspension worked as it should once the compressor had cooled (must have been working overtime all day!)
Now to find a fix to keep the rods in place as the flared end has rusted and clearly not as robust as it once was!

If they are aftermarket rods then put the originals back on and use the Gap tool to raise suspension when required.

They are the adjustable TF ones but it wouldn't have made any odds standard or aftermarket, it's the body mount being rusted that caused the issue and hence why they slipped off.
When you compare my Front RHS to all other corners you can clearly see the amount of material that has rusted away.
