I know J77 ... but the faults are quite naughty and not being treated accordingly. Mind you, we are talking about LR ...
Just saw that David Beckham was at the Paris Car show promoting the new Vinfast (a Vietnamese motor company). A bit of a scale down from his wife furnishing the Ewokes all those years ago.
Which leads me to the Defender ... is it at the show I wonder ?????My16 HSE Landmark - 2016 - Current. Indus Silver

The special Discovery will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, after which it will go into service at the Austrian Red Cross.
The Land Rover Discovery features state-of-the-art communications equipment, including an eight-engine drone on board. Your thermal imaging camera can locate people and vehicles even at a distance of one kilometer up to a distance of 440 meters.
The model also includes four radio antennas, 360-degree lighting and a specially designed carbon fiber command unit in the cargo compartment.
The new Land Rover Discovery for the Red Cross is based on the study "Project Hero" presented in March 2017 . Land Rover Special Vehicles and the Austrian Red Cross have developed it into a ready-to-use vehicle in an 18-month cooperation.

I think they mean eight motors, not engines. The trouble with drones is that they still have relatively short flying times, but without a doubt one equipped with TI must be great. A mate has a pulsar TI scope and it is fantastic, but very expensive!DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

That is translated from an Austrian motoring site so they could be forgiven for meaning motors perhaps. Surrey SAR have been called out about 3 times a week solely for drone work at incidents so I can see the attraction for covering large areas ..but you are right about power ...plenty of back up batteries required

That drone will have about a 30min flight time I would have thought. Decent enough for some SAR. Battery. Change will take a couple of mins

SWMBO works for British Red Cross in transport......... must see if she can get one!
Sadly I don't think so, last BRC LR they acquired (a Defender 110) got its bonnet stolen (scum!!!) ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Most of the big advances will come as the drones/ TI cameras get smaller. Using big cumbersome drones is just self defeating... you're carrying a big heavy battery so that you can carry a big heavy battery, and getting about 15 minutes flight time!
Looks good on LR's promotional videos though! 2005 D3 HSE 2011 D4 Landmark 2016 D4 HSE Lux

It’s a bit silly.
TBH, to believe that the D5 could have a real working life, I’d have to see photos or videos posted by users like AndrewS (I don’t know him; I know people on here who know him; I know he uses his LRs for real work).
The D5 moved the Discovery into a new space, a new family, albeit a market that JLR thought the D3/4 covered quite well. The D3/4 successor will be the new Defender. The old Defender will not be replaced. All IMHO.MY91 110 CSW, so long ago I can barely remember it - sold

It's hardly silly ...when it will be going into active SAR service ...other Mountain SAR in Austria also seem to like the D5
