Red Airbag warning light!

i have just picked up my car from its 120k service, carried out by a mate of mine who owns an independent garage.. ( He services the wife's car, but up until now i've been 100% Landrover Franchise. ) and as he gave me the keys he reached in and slides the seat back for me... (Customer Service...)

At this moment the RED AIRBAG light comes on Doh!!!!!.... loose connection we feel, although it's never happened before...

Three Mechanics later and a lot of feeling around under the seat checking connections etc he declares we is Fu%$ked and i'll need to go to a stealer.... He has knocked £50 off my bill which was more then he needed to do as it could have happened any time i guess!!!

has anybody else had this issue? is the an easy fix??

ta
 i'm lovin it....

Sound like same issue as I currently have - rotary coupling in steering column on its way out Shocked

Worse case is that you will lose use of some or all the switches etc. on the seering wheel - but most important the airbag may not fire in the event of a collision.

Grim news but a fact to be faced I'm afraid!.

Replacement part circa £150 plus fitting & enable of some sort I believe.

Unnecessary quote removed

Thanks Simoniz, but my rotary coupling was done at 106k service by proper LR tech/Garage.... this happened when we moved the seat!, it must be the side impact/seat airbag me thinks...

ummmmm......

Classification
Electrical

Problem
It would appear that due to a shortage of airbags, to keep the production line running alternative (Ford) airbags are being fitted to the D3. However, adjusting the front electric (also perhaps non-electric?) seats may stretch the airbag cabling, affecting the electrical connection and causing the airbag warning light to come on and then stay on when the vehicle is started.

don't you just love this site!

Strange, I had my airbag dash warning light come on only yesterday [as I was driving].
Pulled over, switched off, re-started - and all was ok ...until it came on again 5 miles later.
Did the same procedure again, and so far, it aint come on again.
Is this the same issue as being reported in this thread ?

I had some airbag warnings too till the dealer fixed my uppertailgate problem. There was a electric wire chaving and touching steel under the drivers seat. That caused not enough power to go to the rear tailgate. Since they fixed that I believe I didn't see a red airbag light again.
Connected maybe.
