Reconditioned gearbox advice |
|
Hi I have now had a recon box ,torque convertor and valve body in my disco3
Although I am happy with it as all the horrible noises etc have gone and seems to drive ok
But it seem to be hard shifting when I’m comming to a stop when it’s going down gears
The bloke did explain when I picked it up that as the adaptions have been reset and it has to
Learn new shift patterns and stuff
and to expect
Some harsher shift patterns for 100 odd miles
While it learns with all the censors
Has anyone had any experience on this and is this correct
I just asking as had so many problems with this bloody car and old box that I was expecting it to feel
Like a rolls Royce now after the 2.5k bill
Although has to go back for
500 mike check once it’s done 500 odd miles
It was all done by and approved zf gearbox specialist
Thanks people Disco 3 gone but not forGotten

I reset the auto box adaptions on my D2 (ZF 4HP22) and similar to yours changes were harsh. About 100 miles and all good again. Pete

60 but 40 were on a motorway and the bloke said it needs more than motorway miles as there not much shifting gears on motorways especially no low gear shifting
It does seem
Like it’s getting better than when I first pulled away in it
Just was making sure it is normal while it’s learnimf Disco 3 gone but not forGotten

Just an update
Have now done and it seems to have got a lot better
But still clonks very slightly now and the. When going from either 3-2 or 2-1 as not sure what gear it’s in when it does it
Also when coasting as say 30 and I gently lift off the throttle the revs will stay at 1500-2000 for about 5 seconds like a manual does sort
Of thing is this normal
Sometimes if I’m going faster and ease off the throttle the revs drop to 800
Just asking as I spent a lot of money on this repair and wondering if it’s right
It does seem
The more I drive it the better it’s getrimg now
Except the rev holding that alway like it
I did google
It and some
People say it’s normal coasting or something waiting for you next input either brake or throttle as saves a delay if you reaccelerate after Disco 3 gone but not forGotten

Had similar job done at Bristol Transmissions and from picking the car up it drove like brand new, don’t know if they run it in for you prior to you collecting it, but If revs not dropping when you lift off I’d be contacting the people who did your repair as somethings not right

they do drop but I don’t really know how it’s surpoe to work when i lift off the revs do drop a bit and then slowly drop as the car slows down like a manual car does but if I’m driving at say 30 mph and lift off the accelerator the revs do not drop to 800 tick over straight away Disco 3 gone but not forGotten

Read on a few forums that it something to do with engine breaking and should not drop to 800 revs every time you lift off the accelerator Disco 3 gone but not forGotten
