Recon gearbox recommendations

Wise ones
So the gearbox in the D3 has announced its early retirement so I’m after recommendations for a good recon service and ideally fitting.
We are in Surrey but am willing to travel as far as an old D3 will get with a banjaxed gearbox.
As usual your advice is greatly appreciated

I had a recon transfer case fitted by Bristol. About 6 months later I had some issues and they swapped it for another, no questions asked, gave me a courtesy car for the day and no issues since, some 30k miles later.

I had my gearbox reconditioned by B A Transmissions in Keighley and I'm sorry to say it has all but failed within 50k.

So not a recommendation as such but I wish I had gone with the tried and tested Bristol instead of trying to save a few quid.

I had the gearbox in my old TDV8 recon'd by Bristol Transmissions at 110k several years ago.

It went in for a torque converter but they found excessive wear on the output spline and wouldn't do the TC unless they could do the output spline too. Required a full strip down as the output spline is fitted from the inside. Could have just done the TC and kept quiet about the rest and left me to have a failure but they didn't. Provided a loan car (not a great one but it got me to work and back to them so good enough).

Gearbox was still going strong at 200k last I heard.
