I don't like my present insurer (1st Choice) on grounds of poor customer service, always charging for even minor admin changes (£25 for a phone number change - rip off) and mediocre cover, so am interested in learning whether anyone out there could recommend an LR-friendly insurer that understands customer service, and would be happy to include cover for 4x4 rallies, non-competitive offroad driving etc in the policy in return for a fair premium. I'm not looking for the lowest possible cost.
Got an NFU branch in my local town too, obviously be worth a chat. Any others?____

Just tried NFU on-line. Hopeless, they don't offer Q&B online. Looks like a visit to the shop....____

Spent couple of days shopping for insurance that did mods (specifically remap & moderate offroad mods) and offroad cover. Only choice was between Adrian Flux and somebodyorother at Lloyds and NFU.
Just had my renewal from NFU - £772.82 compared to £511 last year (53% increase)!! That is with full NCB and two 40+ drivers with no motoring offences. I called NFU Direct - (0800 072 0168 for those who don't want to go or call a local branch) - and was given the usual crap about policies increasing across the industry by 40% etc, etc. Using confused.com I found prices as low as £400. The best NFU could do was £688 by increasing excess to £450 from £350.
They also said they don't do specialist 4x4 policies any more. No quite sure what this means in terms of off-road cover but given the huge hike I cant see me going anywhere near them.

I have mine through the caravan club, it is under £400 and from memory is about the £360 mark, had one small claim 2 years and ago and full protected NCB if that helps. Not sur what they are like for mods etc Need to be a member of carvan club but that only costs £35 a year from memory so even if you join that you should still be better off.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Admiral are pretty good but my policy says in the exclusions:
Quote:
used on the Nurburgring Nordschleife, or for racing, pace-making, competitions, rallies, track days, trials or tests, speed trials or speed tests, either on a road, track, or at an off-road 4x4 event
