It certainly helps with planning if you have an EV & allows you to compare "range" of various cars.

I think the invasion of Normandy needed less planning than my usual trip. That’s assuming I leave with 100% tank and get to the destination with 50%, a sensible precaution considering where the destination is.
That’s cf this for a teenieweenie 40ltr tank & 50mpg, with 10 minutes each stop plus a couple of additional wee stops if too much coffee being schwigged.

It's really interesting when you use the app across different vehicles. Out of interest I tracked a regular journey we do (in the Disco) with an I-Pace, and then a Model X - really interesting differences!

I love the Gov support for electric cars, the I-Pace gets a "Luxury Car Tax" hit. Sure its better than other cheaper E cars but they are all high priced to start with so it's not difficult to get over the level?Series 1 V8

Loving the "I do this unusual journey which would be less convenient with an EV at present" posts that "prove" that EVs can't possibly be any good.
For most people, doing the usual urban driving, EVs are perfectly practical either as a second car (lots of families have both a runabout and a "big car"), or even the main car in many cases. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

We currently have a Seat Arona for our commute 60 mile round trip rural roads and all manner of things of all other journeys. And we will certainly consider an EV when we come to change the Arona next year.
Our journey is well within the range of many EVs of the size we need.
And there is an awfull lot of nonsense about traffic jams full of EVs running out of power, it will be 20-25 years before most of the ICE cars are gone, technology is going to change an awful lot in that time.
