It was in an LR press release, it just said 22,000, I assume it’s global.
EDIT - it’s in Auto Express
“Land Rover has sold just over 22,000 examples of the Discovery so far this year, and UK demand is sufficiently strong for a typical wait of between three and four months per order.”
From the bottom of the SVX press release
“Discovery has sold 18,500 units globally since going on sale in April 2017 (to end of July 2017)” 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

We followed a D5, briefly, on our way to the Chunnel on Saturday.
"Is that the new Discovery?" asked SWMBO
"Yes, like the one we saw at Les Comes last year"
"Is it smaller than old one?"
"Not sure really, probably not in real terms"
"It's not as square and solid looking and the backside looks higher"
"The backend is very different, yes"
"The number plate looks odd off to one side. At least the old one had a reason to be like that. The old one's lights were vertical, weren't they, but these are horizontal"
"Yes, it's certainly a talking point on the forum"
"I don't like it, it looks wrong"
" " from me
From someone with little interest in such things normally. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

How many lives shattered. How much blood will spill, until everybody does what they were always going to have to do from the very beginning: SIT DOWN AND TALK!"

What a shame the D5 took the next turn...we would've enjoyed a longer conversation!

Well, back in March 2017, LR gave these figures to "The Independent":
"A lot of people are going to find out just what it’s like. Land Rover has taken 20,000 orders for the new Discovery already, and says the waiting list is quickly building up".
http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/mo...54966.html
Either LR were lying or thousands of Discovery's orders were cancelled. Could be both really...

Who’s upset? And what’s the shocker? Some do seem to be obsessed with the D5 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Not upset at all, just amused by certain repeat posters who do seem obsessed with finding adverse reports and posting them.
No problem with that but they tend to add nothing new.
I can understand it is not to everyone's taste ( I am not a great fan of the rear! ) but personally if I do not like something I would say so at the time and then move on.

For something that is typically reporting there is a 3-4 month waiting list, friend has just (last week) bought one off production line with all the bells and whistles on it. Will be at garage later this week for a few modifications to be done and then it's theirs. They had a few dark grey available or black on the production line they could of had, but they chose silver. I think if you want a different colour - say green or red - you may have to place the order for them to be started from scratch which means it has a longer lead time but if you want a popular colour/spec you should be able to get it much much sooner.
Looking at the dealership we use there are almost 3:1 D5s available (mostly 2l) in comparison to the D4s.
This isn't a 'put down the D5' post btw, just an observation. My16 HSE Landmark - 2016 - Current. Indus Silver
My11 HSE - 2011- 2016. Stornoway Grey

I think it has always been the case that if you are happy with what has been produced on spec then you can get a car fairly quickly, I bought 2 Sports that way.
The lead times are obviously for specifying a car from scratch.
