Ha! My Lintran is custom made for D4 so defo wont fit squat xc90. Pup will lose about 6 inches headroom in xc90 compared to D4 but gain 8 inches more depth and 2 inches more width. If your dog lies down more than sits, xc90 is by far the biggest sitting area even over D4. Trouble is my pup likes to sit up and watch the journey!
Tbh, having previously focused on xc90 D5 diesel, the new disco5 pricing has thrown me into xc90 T8 hybrid territory, whichs obvsnwould be a much better future-proofed investment than any diesel-only. Even if JLR launxh a hybrid Disco5 anytime soon (unlikely), they are far down the curve on hybrid compared to others so likely to take a good few years for them to finesse their hybrid options.

The T8 is very impressive technology, but you should be aware that the maximum distance on battery alone is no more than 25 miles. Add climate control, stereo, sat nav and that range drops rapidly. If you're doing lots of long journeys, the T8 is really no better than the T6 petrol because you're just driving a 4 cylinder 2.0l petrol engine whilst lugging around a heavy battery and an electric motor.

There may be tax benefits, however, if you have your own company. Thumbs Up

All very true, plus the T8 battery gobbles up alot of the boot capacity. Not poised to change anytime soon, will defo be running my D4 another 12-18 months notwithstanding volvo dealerhappily slicing £3k of pre-VAT list with me barely in second-gear negotiating mode

My concern would be the poor back up from dealerships with not being able to get faults corrected, not being able to get a service booked within a fair time and generally not bothered once they got your Cash

Agreed, RAW. Thumbs Up

1.5 months between phoning to book it in and Lancaster Land Rover (Reading) being able to eventually look at my car is unacceptable.

In contrast, Snows Volvo in Winchester have quoted me 1 week between booking in and being able to work on the car.

Another reason not to D5 with its teeny tiny nominal

sitting platform: where is pup going to stand when watching the horses?
Went back to Volvo today, XC90 really starting ti grow on me, D5 pretty much out of contention now. Tho xc60 in the flesh is not quite as wow as on the tv ad, very lifestyle design and boot way too sloped, vastly less space than previous vast xc60.

Our collie loves standing / sitting / hanging out on that platform (or "balcony" as he sees it!). Couldn't be without a proper, wide, balcony for him now Thumbs Up

The only thing she misses is resting her chin on the lower part of the rear window. But she ain’t dipping her paw into her pocket to pay the running costs, so I chose the car for her Laughing

She does seem to be happier in this picture though.

They all seem to love coming out onto a platform of any kind though, it seems to restrictive now with a normal estate car.

Smile the D5 Hatchbag bootliner looks well worth spending £90 on. I remomved my(vast) Lintran cage to clean theother day anf popped Pup up just for thr novelty of having the even more vast cageless D4 cageless boot space. He was suitable awestruck:)) unlike J77, my pup has final veto/royal ascent on all car choices, like Commodus thumbs up/down in Gladiator

And, yep, Xc90 totally deficient on the balcony stakes, so rubber bumper flap would be essential

Hi,

Back to: "reasons not to swap a D4 for a D5...(yet)".

Because its gonna be Censored difficult to sell them on! I've been monitoring for exactly 3 months all aproved D4's and D5's in the french official LR network. In this period, only two D5's were shifted! And they keep coming in...! D4's are a rare sight, being shifted much more easily.

This is my post from june 2017:
"Remember last week in the french LR site; five D4s and twelve D5s for sale. Now, only four D4s and sixteen D5s"! Shocked

Now check what's happening three months after:

http://approved.landrover.fr/fr/rechercher...;model=594

Three D4's against twenty-five D5's! Thud
Cheers.
