when returning the rear wiper stalk to off/rest the wiper continues to work until i push the lever away a little bit more, is this a common problem any fixes ?

Sounds like a faulty switch - should be replaced under warranty or extended warranty

I've noticed that if I do a quick on-off cycle (to initiate a single wipe) it sometimes misses the off-portion and keeps wiping. When doing it with lesser speed (e.g. putting back to off when wiper is in the middle of wiping cycle) it works 100% of time.
