Can anyone tell me how the mirror mounts to the screen on a vehicle with this type of mirror, with the rain sensor? (ignore the wet patch - it's someone else's pic out of the gallery)
does it use the Wedge Mount as in the picture below?
I'm having a heated screen fitted in place of non heated on a base 7 seater, so just trying to figure if the existing mirror will fit onto the new screen.Previously:

Changed over from non heated to heated myself via the dealer ( external fitter) with no issues.
Ah thanks, good to know. Did the heated screen come with the rain sensor or just the mounting button? And did you fit the upgraded aircon controller with the Heated Windscreen button?Previously:

Just taken a look at screen and mirror and posted 2 pictures on my gallery if you want to take a look. Taking the mirror off is a firm anticlockwise twist and reverse to put back on. Sorry havent worked out how to put pictures on posts yet but as i said take a look in my gallery for the photos. Hope this helps.

RM , sorry to say I didn't enquire as to how it was fitted as it was done during a service ( typical ).And even more unhelpfull , I haven't retrofitted the upgraded aircon buttons/panel.I had conversations with Matty ( I think it was Matty) about doing this , he had done so , and TBH it looked like a lot of work and dropped down the priority list.Sorry bud , but Matty ( Disconutter) should be able to advise . I think I have the wiring diagrams somewhere.I'll have a root and try and find them.
Many thanks both of you So the mirror mount for screens with a rain sensor are different - I wonder if a heated screen with wedge type mirro fixing is available. Do all heated screens have a rain sensor? Hmmm . Maybe TLO can answer that one. Discowex, do you still have your original mirror fitted?
I'm confident the screen heating will work once I fit the new aircon panel, as the wiring, fuses and relay are all in place. Should be just a case of connecting the screen at each a pillar.Previously:

Yes , still fitted.
Not so sure about just swapping over the controls RM , I'm sure Matty had to change looms etc.True , the tabs are there.

RM , misunderstood your original question & checked my D3
My mirror is normal ( never bothered me to pay attention) and has a normal wedge type fitted , sililar to your pic.
So in essence I got a heated screen fitted fitted with a normal wedge type mount fitted. The screen doesn't have a rain sensor fitted and I can't see any evidence of any being fitted. Its an LR screen aswell , ordered prior to service.
It's round (well with a lobsided hexagon on it) if you have a rain sensor:
The non Sensor is wedge shaped. Just tell you suppliers whether you have a rainsensor or not and they should supply the correct type.
Only know this because we upgraded from non-heated without sensors, to heated without sensors and recently to heated with rain-sensor.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Matty , I understood theres a bit more to it than that ?
Many thanks for all the info - I now know what to ask the dealer to get in for me.
Disconutter - what changes did you have to make to get the heating to work?Previously:

RM - Plug it in at the A-pillars (fitters should do that anyway), fit a new heater control unit (HVAC) which has heated screen button, the cable/plug for the back of the HVAC is taped back along the cable that already connects to the HVAC - took me two attempts at finding it, but it was there, on the left of the console. Nothing else needed it worked straight away - as did the heated windscreen washer nozzles when I fitted those and plugged them in
DW - It's when I fitted the heated seats that I needed to add extra wiring - don't remind me, I did that with baited breath But if if it hadn't have been for a missing earth connection (found by TFC ) these would have also worked first time LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

I'd like to reposition the rear view mirror a few inches upwards towards the headliner, anyone know how this can be done? Is it a matter of breaking the existing mirror anchor seal and re applying bonding material higher up on the glass? Thanks in advance.16 D4 Landmark
