Rear parking sensors gone nuts .....
My rear parking sensors have started giving a continuous tone, which cuts out after a few seconds, then the parking switch lamp starts flashing.
I’ve seen other threads describing this as a fault with the parking assistance unit or sensors, but is there any chance this could be related to charging the car battery via the 12s tow socket?
Recently got a CTEK charger, and wired up a connector to pins 3 and 4 of 12s plug so as to charge with doors locked.
Have done this three times so far, apparently without issue until parking sensors went nuts.
My rear parking sensors do this when they're wet. Usually from off-roading not just rain. Perhaps water ingress related?Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! I have had the same problem Andy. You can check the sensors by putting it in reverse and putting your ear next to each sensor, you will here a clicking noise from each working sensor. If one is not clicking then that's the issue.

Unfortunately, looking at live values did start to show meaningful numbers, but then started to beep and shut down again, and only shows 2.5m so cant actually check the individual sensors.
I’ve reached up to give the connector a wiggle on the rear right outer sensor, but it seems fairly connected in there.

Hi,
Mine do the same, start complaining when wet (as I live in Cornwall thats basically all the time at the moment)
Is it usually a replacement job or can they be rejuvenated with some love cleaned contacts etc?Disco 3: Lotus Elise S1: Ferguson T20: Audi A2

you could try some compressed air (low pressure aerosol) into the front
Just try 2 to start with in case it break them!
or take um out and take them into the house to dry out for a couple of days

I assume this works just on the ignition? I've tried this on mine and can't here anything.

Ignition on and in reverse (Duh!) and parking brake off, that's probably the bit you're missing
The loom has a habit of becoming intermittent....

I have just replaced my LHS rear sensor. About 10 mins work. You don’t need to take off the bumper.
The sensors is held in position by two clips. One ot the 12 o’clock position and one at the 5 o’clock position.
You need about a third of an old credit card or similar. Locate the sensor behind the rear exhaust pipe and feel for the clips!
With your index finger lift the top clip and with the card in the palm of your hand slide it under the raised clip.
Then release the lower clip by pushing down on it and push out the sensor. The plug on to the loom can be release by gently raising the locating lug and pulling the male/female clear. The replacement sensor will show you where the locking portion is.
Assembly is the reverse.
Hope this helps.Once you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.
